If you're not prepared, travelling can be overwhelming. But there's no need to panic. Follow these handy tips and enjoy a stress-free start to your holiday in St. Andrew. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Firstly, and most importantly, pack in your passport, important documents, credit cards and medications. Next, you'll need some in-flight entertainment to while away the hours. A thrilling book and a phone filled with your favourite shows are some wonderful options. If you intend to catch a few z's, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll step off the plane looking and feeling fresh.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have a Swiss Army knife hiding in the bottom of your hand luggage. Other prohibited items include explosive or flammable substances, such as fuel and fireworks, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Your priority is to be as comfortable as you can. Go for slip-on footwear, dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to bring a jacket in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
