We've got the lowdown on how to make your journey as enjoyable as possible. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be speeding through the airport and discovering Sterling before you know it.What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a comfortable experience if you've got all the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few toiletry items, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean set of clothes and a good read. Secondly, make room in your hand luggage for your electronic devices, chargers, any daily medications and maybe a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some cash.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of prohibited items differs between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes tools, metal cutlery, fuels and bleaching agents. Sports equipment like hockey sticks, and items that could injure passengers, such as pepper spray and firearms, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- The goal here is to feel as comfortable as you can. Dress in loose, breathable clothing and pack a cardigan in case it gets cold in the cabin. Go for a pair of well-fitting, flat shoes as it's possible that your feet and ankles will swell a little during the flight. Leave the high heels and heavy boots in your luggage.
- Caused by sustained periods of immobility, DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a blood clot condition that can affect passengers during long flights. The good news is there are proven ways to reduce your risk of developing it. Stay hydrated, wander around the cabin as much as possible and wear compression tights or socks.
