No matter where you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you've prepared well. We've made a list of handy hints that will get your Tanna Island escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- First of all, pack in your passport, travel documents, wallet and vital medications. Next, you'll need some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A juicy book and a tablet filled with your favourite shows are always good options. If you plan to catch a few z's, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, make room for a toothbrush and some cleansing wipes so you'll touchdown feeling fresh and raring to go.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Double-check that you don't have a pocket knife hiding in your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable substances, such as fuel and fireworks, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Choose comfort over style. Prepare for changes in cabin temperature by dressing in layers, and wear slightly roomy, flat shoes like sneakers.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, can be a risk on long-haul flights. Try to wander around the cabin or do some simple exercises in your seat to promote better circulation.
