Wherever you're coming from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organised. We've compiled a list of handy tips and tricks that will get your Toco holiday started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane ride can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right stuff. First of all you'll need basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your mobile phone, a charger, any medications and perhaps a quality neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Make sure you don't have a Swiss Army knife hiding in one of the compartments of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include explosive or flammable goods, such as fuel and matches, and liquids and gels in containers larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
What to wear on a flight:
- Choose comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes by dressing in layers, and wear flat, enclosed shoes like slip-ons.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation and inactivity, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
