Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you've planned ahead. We've made a list of essential travel tips that will get your Tweed Heads holiday started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- The secret to having an amazing travel experience is to pack ahead. First up, the essentials: passport, boarding pass, cash and daily medications. Next, bring on board items that'll help keep you occupied, like some electronic gadgets or a thrilling novel. It's also wise to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones. Last but not least, don't forget to pop in toiletries like a toothbrush, deodorant and a fresh set of clothes.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp objects, like your treasured pocket knife, and products which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and strong acids, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Choose comfort over style. Prepare for changes in temperature by wearing layers, and wear easy-to-remove footwear like slip-ons.
- Most travellers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged periods of sitting. To reduce your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks and do gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat.
