Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasurable experience if you prepare well enough. We've made a list of handy hints that will get your Whangaparaoa escape started on the right note. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- A plane trip can be a great experience if you've got all the right things. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and something to read. Next, find room in your bag for your laptop, a charger, any daily medications and perhaps a blow-up neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to take your passport, travel documents and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp or pointed objects, like your pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as flares, bleaching agents and fuels, are also not allowed.
What to wear on a flight:
- Comfort should be your main priority when choosing what to wear during your flight. Loose, breathable clothing is a sensible choice, as are flat, slightly roomy shoes.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
