I had emailed about their additional services and never heard back, I checked in at 4:30 (online it said check in started at 4) and they had already left the property, so I was left alone with a note and no real description about how I could use the living room space and wood fire. Maldron Hotel Newlands Cross

4/10 Poor

"We previously stayed at this hotel and chose to come back because we had such a good experience, but the second stay was not great. We were completely ignored at check-in and had to use the “make your own key” check-in machine. We also chose this hotel because it said it had laundry facilities. They don’t have a do-it-yourself facilities, they have a desk drop-off where they send it out at 6:00am and you get the clean laundry back the next day. The woman at the desk was really snooty while explaining the situation and called my teen a “little boy” which he did NOT appreciate. She did, however, tell us where the closest laundry facility was. There were also only 2 towels, glasses and waters when there were 4 occupants (that was one of the touches I really appreciated about our previous stay, they had 5 of everything for our group of 5) and when I went to the desk to ask for more the man at the desk who had switched out with the earlier woman, seemed incredibly bothered when I asked for 2 more towels. The man who dropped them off to our room later was nice, though."

"If you’re looking for a centrally located hotel in Dublin, this will not disappoint. However, the price does not line-up with the experience and offerings. Think and expect budget hotel experience at a FIVE star hotel price. The bed was clean and comfortable, but occupied 50% of the room. There are no closets or drawers to hold your clothes so you’re managing from your suitcase. The breakfast was good, but but in advance to avoid unnecessary cost."

"Being only opened for 2 weeks the hotel was immaculate. The whole operation was running as though it has been opened for years. We arrived early ~noon and they were more than accommodating to let us check in early. The restaurant in the hotel is very good too, all staff very attentive in making sure you are looked after. Highly recommend!"

"We arrived later to the hotel (around 9pm). By the time we dropped our bags to our room and went downstairs for a bite to eat the restaurants were closing. It would be nice if there was a restaurant open later for those wanting to grab a quick bite after a long travel day without having to Uber eats."

"Nice, clean hostel in a convenient location. The only issue is that the 4-bed dorm I was in had the bathroom and shower in the room. Dublin is a party city, so guests come in at all hours. They take showers and get ready for bed while the rest of us are trying to sleep. It would be better if the restrooms/showers were outside the dorm room."

"We found this hotel's design and quieter location to be the star.. so much so that we'll return. The architecture and design is quite good (save for my comment below) - our room was a very comfortable modest king in the warehouse - with warm brick, lovely parquet floor, wood panel, and polished concrete finishes. Room contained a nice collection of amenities (though note - no iron in room) & TV with full compliment of channels & access to streaming. A hair dryer is available in the room, but not coupled with a well-conceived outlet location. We've found this to be a common oversight on the Island. Why is it that hotels in Ireland cannot offer an outlet near a mirror? (My wife suggests that not a single woman has been involved in the vetting of Ireland's hotel room design.) Unfortunately, Ryleigh's rooftop restaurant was closed for a private party at dinnertime (quite honestly, was an annoyance) - thankfully everything in Dublin is walkable & well connected via bus/streetcar. We enjoyed breakfast the next morning overlooking the river. If you enjoy architecture and design - this hotel offers a very nice option."
