"Absolutely lovely. The accommodation is excellent - a superior barn conversion. Really fabulous on a working farm. Hen Curtis was very friendly as well as her dogs Fido (retired sheep dog) Jumble mixed Labby/Poodle, Pinto young sheep dog. All love a good bit of stroking (not Hen!!!!). Relaxing place to be with great walks on and around the farm. Not to be missed."

"Absolutely fabulous if you're looking for a retreat in the country side. Access to Bovey Castle amenities is a nice feature. Enjoyed air rifle shooting range and hawking experience. Cottage is charming and local pub is a very short walk. Driving to the cottage on narrow windy roads is a little challenging but totally worth it!!!"

"If you are walking the Tarka Trail, actually even if you are not, this is the place to stay.
The setting is idyllic the hosts are so welcoming and helpful and the lodge is well equipped.

"Cute little cabin in a quite pretty location.
Basic, but worth the money if you want a value for money private accommodation.
My only comments (not complaint as these things don’t bother me). It was cold when I got there, it would have been nice if the heating could have been put on before arrival.
The floor is freezing - bring slippers.
The shower had a bit of a mind of its own and was either cold or red hot!
It was cleanish but not perfect. And the tea tasted awful (not sure if water...

"Lovely well equipped room, fantastic free breakfast. Just a shame a lorry pulled up outside my window very noisily delivering linen at 6am on a Sunday morning! "
"Staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Hotel is older, characterful building but has parking (on the expensive side) but good for central city. Unfortunately the lift was out of operation for our stay but they did contact us beforehand to let us know. Booked a standard double but was given a king, room was hot but able to turn radiator off and open the windows. Nice toiletries in the bathroom, could have done with the fan working. No fridge in the room but there was a safe, an iron & ironing board, hairdryer and kettle with tea/coffee supplied. Can't comment on the restaurant as we didn't eat there. Some things in need of refurb/update, curtains had small holes in them, window glazing was a little rickety, but overall would stay again. "
"First of all the positives. Lovely reception staff. Rooms were lovely and clean. Location perfect for our needs.
Negatives, once you leave the reception and ground floor it is a very dated building. Our room was small but clean, issue glass screen in bathroom which you can’t move due to sink being in way so you cant get to the taps without climbing in the bath. I was woken around 2am by a really noisy butch of guests, not the hotels fault but could probably do with some sound proofing as the only reason I woke up was because it was so loud I thought they were in our room.
Breakfast, lovely girls but didn’t ask us about allergies, showed us to table didn’t advise about cereals or juices. Asked if we wanted tea or coffee and took our breakfast order. How would I like my eggs? Pouched please! Received fried. No I didn’t complain as the lady sat next to us asked for boiled eggs and was told they don’t usually do them so would need to wait 10 minutes, when they arrived they were over cooked. The lady had also been woken by the other guests around 2am. Also restaurant was empty yet the lady and us were put right in a walk way where there seemed to be a lot of human traffic passing us.
We did say something to reception on leaving and was offered to speak to a manger but I didn’t feel the need as the receptionist was lovely. Would we stay again, probably not."
"Very nice hotel, friendly staff, good location, plenty of free parking, great breakfast (gluten free breakfast was the best, good to be able to eat nearly everything on the buffet & the cooked option) Only stayed one night due to quick visit to see relatives but will be back and will definitely stay longer."
"The bed sheets were too small for the bed, so I woke up with my head on the mattress directly.
Also when we came to check in the staff were doing some admin and we had to stand there for 10 minutes while they completed it in front of us"
"Thought I’d booked a lodge git a room did get refunded a night. Had to spend a day killing time as I was given a room key with guests still in it so instead of relaxing in a front room I had to explore the area with my partner who’s just miscarried!!! Hence wanting a lodge then was told I had an upgraded room but it was twin beds put together and we were falling through the middle the staff were amazing but disappointed is an understatement and no where near compensated respectfully and was made to just accept it never ever again considering what I’d heard about the place the weekend and my partners recovery was beyond ruined"
"The staff were helpful and friendly. The history of the hotel is interesting as it is a former WW1 Hospital. That said it is dated for that same reason. We did not eat ar the restaurant so no review there but we found the bar very blah. Its more of a counter with alcohol. They have very limited parking but there is a pay public car park nearby. We found most of the sites to be within walking distance byt as far as pubs, shopping, or restaurants in the immediate area there really isn't anything. The hitel is fine for a night if you are on a road trip but if you are looking for several nights I would probably pick someplace else"
