Unfortunately we ended up in an argument with a member of staff over our 5 year old daughter's food that she was finishing as we arrived in the bar area to order food and drinks for ourselves. We were asked to leave - shouted over to us from the bar. Once the staff understood we were ordering food and drink for ourselves we were allowed to stay. My wife was cross and complained directly to the staff member who had asked us to leave. He agued the line...

"Convenient stopover stay travelling down to Southern Europe. Friendly staff and v reasonable price. Restaurants nearby and Laon old town is worth looking around although up 200+ steps."

"Au Clos du Lac was one of the best B&Bs we’ve ever stayed at. Beautiful spacious room, stunning gardens and lovely pool/spa area. Anaïs was very welcoming and friendly and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. A real luxury treat in a beautiful village not far from Reims and the champagne region. We’ll be back!"

"Le propriétaire m'a dit qu'il ne travaillait plus avec expedia alors que j'avais une réservation avec expedia et donc il ne m'avait pas réservé de chambre. Par conséquent il m'a logé dans une chambre de dépannage sans aucun confort (juste un matelas sur le sol). Chambre située sous le toit alors qu'il faisait extrêmement chaud (période de canicule) et chambre qui n'était pas équipée de clim ou de ventilateur. J'ai passé une nuit exécrable."

Limited option of secure hotel parking available but lots of free parking available around the city. Clean & spacious room with some traditional features, and despite no air conditioning in room, staff made every effort to cool room with fans during heatwave. All staff really helpful & friendly.
