"We stayed at Ballymascanlon for one night and overall had a mixed experience. The standout was definitely the staff - they were brilliant throughout our stay. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, very helpful, and went out of their way to be accommodating, which made a big difference to the overall experience.
That said, there were a few frustrations. Breakfast felt quite manic, with long waits. We experienced similar delays when ordering food in the lobby bar, which took away from what should have been a more relaxed atmosphere.
Our room was quite worn and could do with some updating, and unfortunately the toilet wasn’t clean when we checked in. On the positive side, the room itself was spacious and had a great view, which we really appreciated. More generally, there was noticeable wear and tear throughout the hotel, which made parts of it feel a bit tired.
At breakfast, the extra charge for items like pancakes and salmon came as a surprise. However, there was a great selection of alternative milks, which was a nice touch. Vegan options overall were limited in the evening there was only one main available in both the lobby bar and the main restaurant, and the same lack of choice applied to desserts.
The gym is quite small and feels overcrowded even with just a handful of people using it. However, the leisure centre staff were excellent - again, very helpful and welcoming.
In summary, the staff really shine and elevate the experience but the other issues dampened it"
"This is the room you see in movies. The perfect bed and breakfast with the iconic view at the foot of the bed. Worn wooden floors that feel good under your feet, high ceilings with crown molding. Crisp white linens and a duvet you can loose yourself in. You will love this room. "
"Staff are fantastic, food and bar service is above expectations. Rooms are clean and modern. We use the hotel regularly for nights or weekends away. Enjoy our stays every time! "
"Pleasant bar with a good atmosphere. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable. We had some food in the restaurant that was fine without being exceptional and it was reasonably priced. Overall it was a pleasant stay."
