"It was a short walk from the parking area to the unit. The wood panels and wood floor were interesting aspects of the accommodation. The unit was spacious with separate kitchen, downstairs table/eating area and adjacent lounge room. It was cold during the visit so although there was a great view of the nearby river from the outside table/eating area, we did not venture there at mealtime. "Rathmore was everything we had hoped for a tranquil weekend escape. We stayed in the Shearer’s Quarters, separate from the main homestead and very private, with delicious meals delivered by Cally - the lamb ragu was a favourite, highly recommended. Both hosts, Richard and Cally, encouraged us to wander the historic property, which felt a little like stepping back in time to a more peaceful era. We even saw one of the dam’s resident platypus! "A fantastic place to stay. Real Colonial Tasmania. 1835. Beautifully maintained, very comfortable, step back in time, great location, & delicious continental breakfast. Loved staying there. Highly recommend. True taste of Tasmania’s past. Would definitely stay there again. "
