"The hotel is showing its age, but is quite clean. Room was good but basic, the room heat control was difficult, had to contact the front desk where they promptly turned on the electricricity. The room got cold at night and I tried to get the heat to work with no success, but then at 05:20 the heat came on magically. I assume they have the heat control on timer to save energy. The very large unheated outdoor pool was good but swimming would be difficult with all the large waves."

"We had an excellent short stay. Friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms and good breakfast right in the centre of Ambleside. Would certainly stay again. "

"Hands down, my favourite hotel that I've stayed at. The staff are the best, the rooms are clean and welcoming, the breakfasts are superb, the bar has a nice cosy and relaxed vibe and it's a good location if you're planning to hike around the Lakes. I've stayed here 7 times in the last 12 months and i keep going back. I never want to go anywhere else."

"Staff were friendly and helpful. We had booked room only and were still able to book a table for evening meal in the restaurant at check-in.The food quality, presentation and service in the restaurant were excellent. The bar area relaxing for an evening drink. Room was clean comfortable and had all the extras we needed for our stay. The hotel is conveniently located to access Keswick and the surrounding area. Would definitely stay again if spending time in the Keswick area."
"Our first stay at The Belsfield, and a delightful experience.
Our room was spacious, well appointed, with a delightful view of Windermere. We appreciated the bathroom, with heated floor, large bath and separate shower.
The grounds are well-maintained, featuring an attractive shrubbery and an interesting variety of trees and wildlife.
Breakfast was excellent and our evening meal was first-rate, beautifully presented and reasonably priced.
The exceptional feature of this hotel, is its staff. Every member of staff we met was courteous and obliging and we will certainly be making a return visit."
"Friendly welcoming and attentive reception on arrival, this continued throughout our stay in the restaurant/Bar and Pool area.
Great location, within a few easy minutes walk to the town centre.
Free undercover parking is a bonus in a town centre hotel."
"Our room was very clean and spacious, housekeeping only came in when requested. Staff were friendly but the restaurant staff were not particularly friendly. Cooked breakfast was very good but the continental breakfast could be better for example the fruit salad was very green and would have been better if there had been some yogurt on the table. The bar was not staffed all the time so we had to find someone to get a drink on a couple of occasions. Lindeth Howe is an excellent hotel in a beautiful quiet location. We have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends."
"overall our weekend break in the Salutation Hotel, Ambleside was very enjoyable, couldnt fault the very pleasant staff/ service. The meals especially the Breakfast was outstanding. Our room was very comfortable and had everything required for an enjoyable stay. One struggle initially was the parking but eventually we got sorted and it was a very busy Bank holiday weekend."
"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Absolute Gem — A Perfect Lakeside Escape!
From the moment we arrived, Lakeside Hotel & Spa exceeded every expectation. The entire property was spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained, and the staff were not only friendly but genuinely warm and extremely helpful throughout our stay.
Our room was simply perfect — a wonderful view of the lake greeted us every morning, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the silence at night was pure bliss. No traffic, no noise, just the tranquil sounds of nature. We slept better than we have in years!
Breakfast was a real highlight — a lovely spread with plenty of choice, fresh and delicious. We also dined at the restaurant in the evening and were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food.
One of our favourite moments was relaxing in the charming courtyard with a cold draught beer, a gentle breeze in the air, while our daughter played happily in front of us watching the ducks. It's the kind of effortless, joyful experience that's hard to find.
Activities like boating are available right on-site, so you truly never need to leave — and honestly, you won't want to. The hotel has everything you need to simply unwind and recharge.
What sets Lakeside apart, above all, is its people. The staff take evident pride in their work, support each other beautifully as a team, and create an atmosphere that feels both grand and genuinely welcoming.
We will absolutely be returning. Highly, highly recommended — a truly special place. 🌿"
"Would definitely recommend, and aim to stay again next year.
Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings - far enough away from the busy Lake District hotspots to make it a peaceful stay, yet close enough to everywhere you might want to visit!
Beautiful garden and pond, with friendly ducks.
Clean throughout with spacious room and bathroom, and a comfortable bed.
Great breakfasts with lots of choice.
Only little niggle - it would be an added bonus to be able to have a cappuccino or latte choice at breakfast :)"
