"Surprise dog fee when we got there, we prepaid on Expedia which didn't include their dog fee. For the price we could have stayed somewhere much nicer. We had ants in the room the whole time, they tried to eat the empty dog food bowls. The hair dryer didn't work at all. The pool was out if commission as the whole place was under renovation. The bed was very firm, hard. The place will likely be better after renovation but until then spend your hard earned money and time elsewhere"

"This is an adorable B&B and the proprietors were so kind. My flight was horribly delayed (and stressful as I almost didn't find a way to even get to Cheboygan to pick my son up from camp) and I didn't end up arriving until 3:00 in the morning. I was texting with Ann and sure enough she was sitting on their back porch waiting for me when I arrived. I slept through breakfast and she had saved some for me that she reheated when I was up. "Breakfast was your typical hotel fare. Room was very small with very small bathroom with view of power cables and I spent 1100 dollars for two nights (Wed/Thur) during a typical week (no special events). Best to wait and book closer to when you go. Others staying there got much larger rooms with the lake view and paid about half to two/thirds of what I did, but they booked a week ahead. Considering staying in Mackinaw City next time and going over each day. Much cheaper with nicer...

"Super charming hotel! The room was straight out of the era in which the hotel was built yet with a modern bathroom. Hotel is conveniently located in the middle of it all. Ample bicycle parking near by. Hot tub was a nice distraction on a day we weren't sure what to do. Also the porch chairs were a perfect spot to people watch. Be sure to grab your breakfast donut in the morning on your way out to enjoy the island- it's very good! (The photo is the view from our room)"

"Very nice and clean room. Got the king suite with a lakeview and view of town and absolutely loved it. Had a nice balcony to sit on as well. Bed was very comfortable and room had to rooms to it. Very comfortable place to stay. Staff was very nice and helpful. I will definitely stay here again."

"We absolutely loved our stay at Stonecliffe! One of the best Inn/Resorts where ever had the privlege of staying. Incredible staff, rooms were beautifully appointed, and the grounds were amazing. Highly recommend!"

"Pros: Very nice place in a beautiful area with large lakefront rooms a few minutes from downtown Mackinaw City. They have bonfires & smores at sunset on their beach, and a basic breakfast buffet in the morning. Cons: Room was a musty, breakfast was just ok, coffee was sub-par."

"Definitely not what the picture shows and not worth the price. Bathroom door would not keep shut or even lock. Small shower (definitely would not fit a tall person). Spider webs around the window and corners of the walls. There were stains on the sheets. At least the view was nice."

The carpet and linoleum looked to be original, beer caps on the top of the faucet, and the screen on the patio door was bent and would not properly open and close.
