"Good location only a $2 taxi ride minutes from Bocas town. Steps to the road where taxis pass every few minutes. Clean, friendly hosts and home made breakfast."
"A true hidden gem on Isla Colon. The grounds are teeming with wildlife and the 'pod' style lodging is such a unique experience. Despite having no AC, the pods stayed surprisingly comfortable. This was the first place on our trip with truly clean sheets and a comfortable bed. The staff is efficient and kind, and the included breakfast was excellent. It’s a peaceful, well-managed sanctuary away from the town noise."
"The room was clean, a good size. and the comfort was okay. The best part was the location of the accommodations at Starfish beach and we had a good dinner at their restaurant."
"The units are very basic and need repairs. We left two days early because the wind was creating so much noise from loose boards and furniture moving we couldn't sleep. Asked for a discount but received nothing. Also no car parking close by. Ended up having to park on the street and had 3 hubcaps stolen which ended costing $330! So much garbage in the water I wouldn't even consider swimming in it. Stay away!"
"Bug Screens are torn. Couch really uncomfortable, it's a broken hideabed. Very limited TV. Kitchen dirty and needs cupboard door repairs. No smoke detectors. Swimming pool is 2 properties away and really dirty, I certainly would not swim in it, lots of bugs that bite need lots of repellant"
"Our stay at Playa Tortuga was unfortunately very disappointing. From the moment we checked in, it was clear that the property is poorly maintained. The overall cleanliness of the place was lacking, especially in the rooms and bathrooms. The bathroom was in unacceptable condition—there was no shower head, visible stains on the walls and fixtures, and we even encountered roaches, which was extremely unpleasant and concerning.
The room itself did not feel clean or well cared for, which made the stay uncomfortable. Basic maintenance and hygiene standards were clearly not met. For a hotel that markets itself as a relaxing place to stay, this was far from the experience we expected.
The food was average at best. While it was edible, it did not stand out in terms of quality or variety. To make matters worse, on the day of checkout, we went for breakfast at 7:30 AM and were told that breakfast was not available, even though the hotel states that breakfast starts at 7:00 AM. It appeared that service only begins once more guests arrive, which is very inconvenient for travelers with early plans.
Overall, this stay was a letdown due to poor cleanliness, lack of proper maintenance, and inconsistent service. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Playa Tortuga to anyone, and we would not consider staying here again."
