"Nice hotel on outskirts of Newbury. Staff on arrival very nice and helpful. Our room in main building surprisingly very quiet as it’s above bar area. Like to have window open over night, however couldn’t as noise from fans over kitchens. Restaurant-dinner decent selection and nice food, breakfast- again good selection. Dog friendly but no separate areas for eating."

"Staff were lovely. Had a long drive and arrived on the cutoff for ordering dinner, but thankfully the staff were kind enough to still let us order. We had both dinner and breakfast, both were absolutely delicious. There was some games we could borrow which we enjoyed playing in the bar, only small disadvantage is the bar closed at 10:30. Room was very clean, stocked with tea and coffee and the extra pillows in the wardrobe was a nice addition. Overall, we had a very peaceful, relaxing stay."

"All in all an ok stay. Was let down by a tired bathroom with stains in the bath and poor service at reception. I had to wait quite a while to be checked in as the staff member was missing, and was then sent on a wild goosechase around the rooms in outbuildings only to be told when I returned that the room was indeed in the main building and that he was new and did not know where the rooms are! Breakfast was excellent."

"This property has seen better days. It clearly needs a more permanent workforce although the staff could not have been more helpful and deserve full marks . Small things need fixing and attending to therefore it needs a good in-house accommodation manager to supervise and of course money spent. Food was good and again could not be criticized. Not however Cordon-Bleu. Beautiful surroundings and obviously popular with the Golfers. With additional financial input and better managed it could be a...
