The Cathedral Peak hotel is a delight to stay at with great rooms, tasty food and excellent service from the staff. The mountains and trails are amazing and the whole experience 5 stars. Plan your visit to arrive before sunset since road to the hotel can be challenging but perfectly safe.

Stunning location

After taking a long slow drive to get to the hotel, the views of the mountains made it all worth it! Everything about the hotel and service were excellent. Will definitely try to come back here in future and try the loads of activities I did not have time for this time around.

Still amazing

Cathedral is the absolute best of the Berg. A truly special place and so grateful to have been able to stay on my way up to Johannesburg. Amazing walks on the doorstep, which are required to ensure the extra kilograms put on by the amazing food is limited. Will definitely be back next time I'm in ZAR.

Lovely stay at Cathedral peak

Fantastic hotel. Opened 85 years ago and has developed iver time but stillhas a lovely feel to it and fits really well into the natural landscape of the Drakensberg. The staff are plentiful and all very friendly and welcoming. The whole operation is organised really well. The activities and guided walks are excellent. The guides themselves professional, helpful and friendly. You can do plenty of walks yourself as well.

Beautiful and worth a visit

Beautiful location in the Berg. Rooms are a little tired and could do with some TLC. Didn't have a working plug in our bathroom and asked three times for it to be looked at but nobody came - so made a plan ourselves! Other than that, it is an amazing place and worth a visit.

The location is fantastic. The staff are friendly, welcoming and the service was very efficient. The room was very clean and had plenty of space to store clothes and belongings. We both enjoyed the food and there was plenty of meat options. My partner is pescatarian and would have welcomed some vegetarian sausages options at breakfast. Otherwise the food was good quality and well presented. Overall a super hotel, great location and a very relaxing time. When we booked our room said limited views of the berg but that want quite true. Standing on the balcony we had almost unlimited views!

Großes Zimmer mit guter Ausstattung. Die Optik ist schon ein wenig älter (Charme der 1940er Jahre). Die Umgebung der Drakensberge ist beeindruckend und lädt zu vielfältigen Wanderungen ein, vom entspannten Spaziergang bis zur anspruchsvollen Ganztages-Gipfelbesteigung. Nette Guides bei den kostenlosen Wanderungen für Hotelgäste. Weitläufige Hotel-Anlage. Das Essen ist eher auf afrikaanse und englische Gäste ausgerichtet. Als wir dort waren, war das Publikum eher älter und englisch geprägt. Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt.

Die Gebäude sind reichlich in die Jahre gekommen, aber dennoch sauber und das Essen ist gut. Das Personal ist von bis. Unser Wanderguide war richtig klasse. Beim Servicepersonal ist von unmotiviert bis freundlich alles dabei. Das Hotel ist aber nur Nebensache - der absolute Star ist die tolle Natur mit fantastischen Wandermöglichkeiten.
