Top Hampshire Hotel Reviews

Macdonald Botley Park Hotel & Spa
4/10 Poor
"Same music on repeat in bar. Which is overpriced.
Menu in restaurant was not diverse and is so expensive for was it is. £21 for a burger but the chair you sit at your table on is broken and tables all wobbly. It’s just a joke. "

Red Lion Hotel by Greene King Inns
6/10 Okay
"Check-in was quick and straightforward, and the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming.
Unfortunately, the stay itself was very disappointing. The radiator in our room appeared to be airlocked and began making loud gurgling noises around 3:30am, waking us up. The noise was constant and intrusive, coming from right next to the bed. I reported the issue to the night desk clerk, who explained the hotel was fully booked and we couldn’t be moved. He did switch the heating system off, which stopped the noise, but by then I was fully awake and struggled to get back to sleep.
There were also other issues in the room. The hairdryer’s PAT test had expired, which raises safety concerns, and the shower pressure was excessively harsh—so sharp it was almost unusable.
I raised the radiator issue again with the morning desk clerk, but the response was underwhelming. Aside from an apology, I was simply advised to leave a review. Given the poor night’s sleep and the overall experience, this felt inadequate.
At £80 for the night—followed by a three-hour drive the next day—I expected a much better standard of comfort and customer care. Unfortunately, this experience fell short, and based on this stay, I would choose a Premier Inn in future."

Red Lion Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"I had a lovely stay at the Red Lion. My travel plans got changed, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and immediately put me at ease - couldn't do enough for me which is always appreciated.
The rooms themselves are very cozy and comfortable - I particularly liked the abundance of bird paintings and prints as decor, they were genuinely nice surprise.
The shower was a particular highlight, two different showerheads, great water pressure and some lovely complimentary shower gel and conditioner.
As I was staying over a weekend, the hotel staff took the courtesy of warning about potential noise from the nearby high street, however this was a non-issue during my stay - once the window was shut, I put my head down to sleep with no issues whatsoever.
I would quite gladly stay at the Red Lion again next time I'm in Basingstoke, the place has a real charm and character to it and the service was genuinely excellent."

Best Western Chilworth Manor Hotel
8/10 Good
"Evening meal waitress was fantastic.
Bit of mould in the bathroom.
Room was hotter than the sun when we arrived!

The Winchester Hotel & Spa

Village Hotel Basingstoke
4/10 Poor
"Always had good stay with village before but this time there was problem at check in as I booked through Expedia. Paid through Expedia, and only had to pay for late check out at hotel but they tried to take full stay and the extra payment. They kept saying there was issue as there was insufficient fund in my card but I had already paid for stay. They blamed Expedia for this. Already a bad start to the stay. The rooms itself are good then when it came to the next day, even though we paid for late checkout cleaning staff opened the door while we were sleeping at 11. No knock prior. Overall bad experience this time. "

The Langstone Quays
10/10 Excellent
"Lovely place would go again "

Holiday Inn Express Southampton M27 Jct7 by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"We arrived earlier than expected and our room wasn’t ready however the lovely lady on reception Saturday lunchtime found us an alternative room and let us check in early after our three and a half hour drive . We couldn’t have asked for better customer service . Lovely room ! Nice and clean and had everything we needed . My only bad point was the there needed to be more milk supplied in room . We were left three between two people but 4-6 would be much better .
The breakfast was hot and plenty of choice "
