The Langstone Quays
8/10 Good
"The room we stayed in was very close to the reception. We could hear people talking loudly which disturbed our sleep in more than one occasion.A sound proof door should be there between reception and the ground rooms to minimise or eliminate the sound. We also found dump in the bedroom walls, towards the main window and the bed sheets had holes on it."

The Winchester Hotel & Spa

"Great"

Village Hotel Southampton Eastleigh
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel is great value for money and has a great gym too. Free parking and affordable drinks at the bar."

Macdonald Botley Park Hotel & Spa
4/10 Poor
"I understand the hotel was very fine in its day, the problem seems to be that its day was a long time ago and nothing has really changed inside. Everything feels very old, and not in a charming way. It feels like the bare minimum amount of staff are in place at any one time to reduce outgoings, there was no information about how to access the pool and gym facilities, either from staff or in room info (gents changing rooms closed when I was there which added to my uncertainty). Nothing was terrible, but nothing was particularly good either"

Holiday Inn Express Southampton M27 Jct7 by IHG
10/10 Excellent
"Clean. Lovely staff really good breakfast included"

Rhinefield House Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"This was one of the most enjoyable stays I’ve experienced in recent years. The area of Brockenhurst is stunning and I’m very glad Rhinefield House Hotel was my base to explore it. The grounds were gorgeous and the staff were extremely conscientious and made the atmosphere. The breakfast made the perfect start to the day and I’d definitely visit again. "

The Crown Manor House Hotel

Red Lion Hotel by Greene King Inns
6/10 Okay
"Check-in was quick and straightforward, and the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming.
Unfortunately, the stay itself was very disappointing. The radiator in our room appeared to be airlocked and began making loud gurgling noises around 3:30am, waking us up. The noise was constant and intrusive, coming from right next to the bed. I reported the issue to the night desk clerk, who explained the hotel was fully booked and we couldn’t be moved. He did switch the heating system off, which stopped the noise, but by then I was fully awake and struggled to get back to sleep.
There were also other issues in the room. The hairdryer’s PAT test had expired, which raises safety concerns, and the shower pressure was excessively harsh—so sharp it was almost unusable.
I raised the radiator issue again with the morning desk clerk, but the response was underwhelming. Aside from an apology, I was simply advised to leave a review. Given the poor night’s sleep and the overall experience, this felt inadequate.
At £80 for the night—followed by a three-hour drive the next day—I expected a much better standard of comfort and customer care. Unfortunately, this experience fell short, and based on this stay, I would choose a Premier Inn in future."

Red Lion Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"I had a lovely stay at the Red Lion. My travel plans got changed, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and immediately put me at ease - couldn't do enough for me which is always appreciated.
The rooms themselves are very cozy and comfortable - I particularly liked the abundance of bird paintings and prints as decor, they were genuinely nice surprise.
The shower was a particular highlight, two different showerheads, great water pressure and some lovely complimentary shower gel and conditioner.
As I was staying over a weekend, the hotel staff took the courtesy of warning about potential noise from the nearby high street, however this was a non-issue during my stay - once the window was shut, I put my head down to sleep with no issues whatsoever.
I would quite gladly stay at the Red Lion again next time I'm in Basingstoke, the place has a real charm and character to it and the service was genuinely excellent."
