The hotel is decent. Hall carpet needs cleaning. No air conditioning but was able to be comfortable leaving windows open and using fans. One particular hotel clerk made the trip most enjoyable. He was very friendly, provided excellent customer service, and is the only reason my review for service isn't 1 star. He deserves 5 stars alone. 2 other clerks (Asian male with glasses and redhead male with glasses) on day shift deserve 0 stars. There were language barriers as i do not speak or read German and the clerk said very little to me. He didn't explain hotel policies or payment details. When I reviewed my hotel receipt, I saw extra fees charged for USD conversion. I asked about it and noted that I had issues understanding the prompts on the payment screens because it is in German. I was told I should have asked and it was German policy. But, how would I know to ask if I don't speak or read German? Also, the clerk saw I was having trouble completing the process because I accidentally canceled the transaction and he had to reset it. Hotel policy should be to inform the customer of all fees and taxes at time of payment and provide translation. I frequented other businesses while in the area and all were upfront about the fees. I complained to the hotel and was offered a free drink at the bar which I didn't use. It isn't about getting free items or a discount. My issue is the hotel should explain pricing and fees to customers and provide better customer service.
