"I checked out around 10:30 give or take. At approximately noon I figured out I had left my wallet in the hotel room. I immediately called the front desk and explained to the gentleman who answered my problem. He asked me to hold and he would ask housekeeping. After a couple minutes he told me that yes my wallet was in the room along with a white plastic bag with chargers and some medicine. I asked him to please secure it and I would pick it up in 3 days on my way back through Ocala. I was so thankful that the employees were honest. They were also very accommodating to hold my “life” in my wallet. I retrieved it on Monday and my wallet and the contents of my plastic shopping bag were all intact. I applaud this Howard Johnson for all the employees who chose honesty! It is rare these days. I would definitely stay here again."

"We had a very nice stay at the Riding Academy. The room was spotless, comfortable, and well maintained, and the property itself is beautiful and relaxing. The only area that could use improvement is the guest experience at check-in. We arrived just over two hours early and were told our room was already ready, but we would need to pay an additional $50 to check in early or wait until 4:00 PM. While we understand and respect the policy, the welcome felt rather impersonal. It would have been nice to receive a brief introduction to the property, such as where to find dining options, the pool and its hours, or other amenities guests can enjoy. Breakfast was another disappointment. There is no hot breakfast, only grab-and-go items, and they are quite expensive. Adding a hot breakfast or offering more reasonably priced options would make a big difference. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay thanks to the beautiful property and the exceptionally clean, comfortable room. With a warmer welcome and a few improvements to the breakfast options, this would easily be a 5-star experience."
