"It's an outdoor resort on a secluded island with abundant wildlife. I would (and have) still absolutely recommend, but i think it's good to know going into it. It is not a brand new resort but it is not in bad repair and doesn't feel run down. Everything about the experience more than makes up for minor aesthetic drawbacks.
I would also highly recommend looking into trip insurance!! Water was rough getting there, and several other tours with other places were canceled. Thankfully the ferry still ran - but because the ferry is separate i don't think there are any refunds for your room if you're not able to get to the island!! I got lucky, but DEFINITELY something I'm looking into for next time. "
"To say this stay was phenomenal would be an understatement! We weren’t sure exactly what to expect on the island before we arrived but we were pleasantly surprised by everything.
Travel was very easy on the ferry with a prearranged ticket and a person to greet us on Heron Island. We were then picked up on the beach on Heron Island, where we had a fun 20 minute boat ride to Wilson.
We were there during sea turtle mating season, so sunrise, evening, and night were amazing with the amount of turtles we were able to enjoy.
The accommodations were wonderful with one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. The tent was very comfortable with a nice breeze from the ocean at night so we were never too hot or cold.
The food was absolutely amazing to the point my wife has continued to say how much she misses Nick even after returning home. T-bone steak for dinner, duck for lunch, a beautifully presented plate of scallops for a sunset appetizer, just to name a few of the amazing dishes. Nick even prepared a spread of DIY Vegemite, bread and butter for us since we were jet lagged and waking up well before breakfast.
It took us over 36 hours of travel to get there and we would immediately get on a flight to return if we could, even if just for a couple more days of paradise."
