"We stayed at Playa Blanca Resort in Panama for 9 days with family and had 3 different rooms. The resort is beautiful and has great potential, especially the view of the artificial beach from our room, but the lack of maintenance, cleanliness, and service was very disappointing.
All 3 rooms were missing basic furniture or amenities. The built-in kitchens were useless because there were no plates, cups, utensils, pots, pans, or anything in the cabinets. Our room did not even have a refrigerator and was missing a desk chair. It was also very dirty under the cabinets and furniture, which was concerning because our 12-month-old was crawling around.
My in-laws’ first room smelled like feces and had mold, so they had to move. This was a serious health concern because my father-in-law is 94. Their second room had a broken bed. Staff said it would be changed and later claimed it had been, but it had not. We had to move an unused bed from our own room ourselves. We also requested a wheelchair for my father-in-law on day one, but did not receive it until day three.
The food was generally good and most restaurant servers were kind, but we saw rat droppings on buffet tables two days in a row. The reservation system was also difficult for multiple rooms. Beach towels were only available in one faraway location, so we kept the same towels all 9 days.
Overall, the resort is beautiful, but it needs major improvements in cleanliness, maintenance, communication, and hospitality."
