"Very clean and unique place with great river views. The brewery was great! Restaurant was good for dinner but breakfast was just okay. Staff was a bit confused at times with parking options and taking deposits. It all worked out in the end and I would recommend staying here. Thank you"

"Right, what really makes a place is how they react to things being a bit off. Firstly thumbs up for the room having a proper iron and full size ironing board, but some one ahead of me had made the iron rather manky, you know too hot for the fabric, or not having enough water in to steam iron properly. The hotel did not have any iron cleaner, but initially gave me a clean pillow case to put between the iron and my clothes, ( a good tip if you have linen iron cotton pillowcases), and then within 5 minutes were at the door with a brand new replacement iron. Top marks, remember this is an old building so it creaks a bit and the plumbing occasionally wheeze, but the showers are good, the rooms clean and the bed was comfy. Well done team."

"The pods are great and the rooms are clean though a bit small but functional we just would’ve liked to have had a little more housekeeping attention and the dining room was booked both nights we were there which was frustrating because it was so beautiful, but the breakfast were delicious and the location is ideal"

"We spent two nights at Balmacara Hotel during a family road trip through the Scottish Highlands, and it became one of the most memorable stays of our entire journey. The hotel sits right on the water's edge, with Loch Alsh stretching out before you and the Isle of Skye visible across the water. There is a rare quality to this location: complete solitude and stillness, yet a sense of being fully held by the natural world. We sat by the loch after dinner both evenings watching the light change over Skye long past 10PM. Cinematic does not begin to cover it. The staff made this stay genuinely exceptional. The restaurant and bar team were warm, attentive, and consistently above and beyond in ways that felt completely natural rather than scripted. Room service was equally prompt and courteous. This is the kind of hospitality that comes from people who genuinely care, and it showed in every interaction. For families driving the Edinburgh to Skye route, Balmacara is the perfect two-night base. The Skye Bridge is ten minutes away and Eilean Donan Castle is five. Do not rush through. The area rewards stillness. Five stars. Without hesitation."

"This place was perfect. We got in super late to our check in (basically in the middle of the night) and the staff was very understanding, even being so kind as to offer to refill our water bottles as we checked in. When we got to the room, it was clean, and quiet. The bathroom was perfect after a long day of travel, clean and with great water pressure in the shower and sink. In the morning, breakfast service was outstanding and the staff were again kind and helpful. Great place to stay, incredibly kind people, and definitely worth your money to stay here."
