"It's an old-school motel with lots of character and charm. Its big advantage is the proximity to the beach. It's literally across the street -- and also walking distance to the downtown district of shops and restaurants. "

"Enjoyed the property and great proximity to restaurants, mall, beach and downtown. Disappointed at check in experience. Asked for 3 favors… get a better room thank overlooking valet a driveway, honor the $35 resort credit that hotels.com had but I didn’t have attached to my room or discount the $60 per day valet charge as I was not leaving with car for entire stay. She said no to all asks and was not very nice about any of it. Seems she was having a tough day. We used the free beach bikes which was a great hotel perk but first one had a flat soon after leaving hotel and the other bikes where not in very good condition. The hostess at hotel restaurant was also not overly friendly during our Sunday brunch visit. So many great perks and opportunities at the hotel but the staff could use some better customer service training "

"Roof deck and lobby restaurant were great! Hotel staff warm and welcoming. I lost my Jacket and Jerry found it and mailed it back to me. I cannot say enough nice things about this Newport peninsula jewel. "

"Stay away from this property! I am a Wyndham member and even pre-registered for our room before arrival. I walked in the broom closet of a lobby and gave the desk clerk my last name she put our room key on the counter and said "you're in 202 up the stairs"this room overlooked the 55 freeway so close that I could read license plates on the cars. All night long were the sound of motorcycles, sirens, hoopties with no mufflers and semi trucks. There seem to be a break between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. where we could try to get to sleep. The gap in the door was so big sunlight would beam in around the cracks. The one window was locked shut and paper thin like plexiglass that also overlooked the cars on the freeway. When entering the room we were overcome by the scent of Fabuloso. This room was the kind of room that you rent by the hour or a midnight straggler desperate for sleep. Expedia should not represent this property and Wyndham should be ashamed of themselves. "

"Pictures make it look way nicer than it is. Definitely needs lots of touch ups and the floors are so loud it was really hard to sleep. "
