I am honestly baffled as to why this hotel only has a 2-star rating; it deserves much more. The communication was excellent. They offer an open WhatsApp line for guest requests, which is a brilliant, modern touch. Even though I didn’t need to ask for anything, knowing that help was just a message away provided great peace of mind. Housekeeping was exceptional. They checked in every morning with fresh towels and offered to clean the room. They were incredibly proactive with beverages—sometimes bringing refills before I even had to ask! Unlike many other hotels, they provide real glassware in the rooms, which makes a huge difference. The Highlights: Accessibility: The rooms are very well thought out with step-in showers and sturdy grab rails, which is essential for anyone with mobility needs. Facilities: For a '2-star' hotel to have a gym, yoga, and Tai Chi facilities is unheard of. It’s also perfectly located near the city centre and a Vue cinema. Cleanliness: After I checked out, I sat in the foyer and watched the staff work. The entire place was cleaned top-to-bottom—absolutely spic and span. The staff were helpful, kind, and clearly felt that nothing was too much trouble. "Beautiful location in gorgeous grounds with fabulous views of Rutland Water. We had a junior "suite" (actually one room, not separate bedroom and living area) with balcony. It was clean, comfortable and spacious although could do with more lighting (the room was dark despite glorious sunny May weather). The lift wasn't working throughout our stay which didn't bother us but would be problematic for anyone with disabilities or mobility problems. We hated the way you have to step into a pitch black lobby to access the bedroom and the light on a sensor doesn't come on until you are half way across the lobby (take a torch). Same when leaving your bedroom to exit the hotel. Breakfast was very average, we felt, all self-service and feels mass produced, coffee machines producing indifferent "coffee" but no decaf option. We would stay again for the location, but for the price (around £350 per night) we felt there could be improvements"

"Front desk staff were lovely. The hotel itself is very nice, room was a bit run down - missing faucet handle bit, needing a little tlc overall. Sheets seemed clean but I found hair that wasn’t mine around the room. My biggest complaint though isn’t with the hotel itself but instead the restaurant within the hotel. No matter when I called or how many times, they never answered. Not once during my entire stay. Reception tried to connect me - no luck. When I went to the restaurant they told me they couldn’t do lattes or coffee to go although earlier people were taking hot drinks to go. They were out of gluten free toast although it’s on their menu as something available daily. Room service was a big let down. Other people seemed to have the same issue."

"Disappointing and overpriced stay Booked Drift Inn for a birthday stay mainly for the pool/sauna, but left really disappointed. Decor is bright and modern, and the room was clean, quiet and the bed comfortable. Corridors smelled nice too. But there were visible stains and the room was far too hot. No air con and the fan was useless. I slept outside the duvet and my husband was sweating all night. Reception felt impersonal with self check in screens. Staff member looked bored and was vague when we asked about the pool, just pointing “over there” across the car park. Cafe Bar was a let down. Tables were dirty with old plates left. We were told we could eat outside, chose a sunny jetty table, then told after 6pm food wasn’t allowed there, only in the shaded area. This wasn’t explained upfront. We didn’t eat as it felt unclean and badly run. Leisure facilities are in a separate building across a car park/road and run by another company. We were told to call ahead as access isn’t guaranteed due to classes, even on a Sunday. Not the relaxed experience advertised. Breakfast food was nice, but layout poor. By the time you’d fetched everything it was cold. Poached egg arrived as we finished. Menus cleared early. Not a cheap stay. Felt disjointed and not worth the money. Wouldn’t return."
