The gate was covered in scaffolding. Disappointing noy to see it properly. But the island is well worth a visit.

Tori gate under renovation so all covered up for next 3 years. Has gone at low tide to walk to gate so this was a bit disappointing.. The shrine itself was still well worth a visit but would be much better to see this at high tide.

Make sure there isn't scaffolding up if you really want to see this!

Do the Ropeway early as it gets busy and the trek to the top of Mount Misen is well worth the effort for the views
