"I stayed at the Hyatt in Savannah during a quick overnight stop while traveling to Florida. This was a last-minute booking with a late check-in around 9:00 PM after a long day on the road.
My main concern was being charged the destination fee despite arriving after most amenities were already closed. The fee includes things like happy hour participation and a welcome drink, but by the time I arrived those options were no longer available. I’m not opposed to the fee itself — the offerings actually seem like they would be great — but it was disappointing to be charged for perks that were not accessible due to the late arrival.
Unfortunately, my room also had a very strong odor of urine near the bed area. It was quite unpleasant. I did ask if a room change was possible, but I was told the hotel was full and none were available.
On a positive note, the staff throughout the hotel were incredibly kind and welcoming. The front desk team was polite and professional even when addressing my concerns. I also had breakfast before leaving the next morning, and the restaurant staff who opened at 6:30 AM were wonderful — very warm, attentive, and a great start to the morning before getting back on the road.
Overall, the customer service from the staff was excellent, but the room condition and the destination fee situation made the stay less comfortable than expected."
