The room was large and the bed comfortable. Good size bathroom. A fan was provided as no air-conditioning. The only downside was the window did not open and had a closed shutter on the outside. Not too much of a problem as only slept there but initially it felt a little claustrophobic. Great location. Would stay there again but only in a room with a window you could see out of and opened.

Pleasant Hotel in the centre of the beautiful town of La Rochelle. Nice personnel, safe parking for the motorcycle, great breakfast. There is also a courtyard where you can enjoy a drink outside.

Great stay again

Good location and usually parking on site. Peaceful, quiet and comfortable for our fifth short stay here. Staff are very good, friendly and helpful. Make sure to use their emailed advice to navigate to the hotel, we needed it because our sat nav is not up to date.

Recommended

Great location a little away from the port but a very pleasant short walk (5mins) away. Very friendly welcome and good accommodation. We didn't have breakfast but it looked a decent continental offering - albeit with loads of great croissants etc on offer on the doorstep, there's no need to stay at the hotel for breakfast. I have used this hotel a number of times in the past and i will do so again in the future.

Fantastic location and very nice and helpful staff. The room was very small and had a strong, strange smell that I suspect came from the carpet combined with the heat in the room which was unbearable. There was no aircondition in the room, which was a major setback in the 30 degree heat outside and no winds. Only a portable floorpan was provided, but it did little to nothing. Bed was comfortable, the property was clean and well maintained - and very handy with the gated parking on the property. Would stay here again, but definitely choose a different room. For reference we had booked a Superior Double Room.

We absolutely loved our stay at Francois 1er! The family room was spacious and the hotel is tastefully decorated with art and pieces of music items, as this is the overall theme. The kids enjoyed the music corner with headphones. The breakfast was also of a high quality.
