Lovely underrated Quinta

Lovely underrated Quinta. A little out of the way without a car but well worth travelling to. Accommodating and helpful staff make it feel like you are staying with family.

We recently stayed at Casaldroho Wine Hotel and enjoyed our relaxing stay. While it was colder outside and we couldn't enjoy the terrace or pool, we enjoyed the quiet bar area and the dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Lovely stay.

Nice hotel in Douro Valley

Friendly staff, nice but small pool on roof terrace. Rooms and bed was OK, though our friends found lots of small ants in their room (probably due to a spillage in the waste basket). The staff handled this promtly, and the problem didn't occure for the rest of the stay. We were two couples and stayed for two nights. Food was OK, but nothing more. Breakfast was lovely and included in the price. We enjoyed our stay here.

Beautiful property in the beautiful Douro Valley with a nice pool. There is no winery on site, but it is in the middle of beautiful vineyards. You can go down the road to Pinhao or to St. Eufemia Winery for a tour. Breakfast was great and the staff was very accomodating. Great price for a beautiful stay. The property would benefit from some more outdoor leisure areas to sit peacefully and enjoy the view other than the balcony of your room or the pool/deck. Lenore at the desk was very nice and very helpful.

Pleasant Stay

The staff were very nice and we enjoyed our room and the grounds. The guests would greatly benefit from better signage at the turn-off on the road as well as along the long drive to the Quinta. Dinner was nice and the breakfast was more than sufficient.

Promises a lot, but doesn't deliver

The majority of staff were friendly, courteous and happy, which makes a real difference to the stay. The room, including bathroom were small, but clean. One of the reasons we booked this hotel, was the description on the hotel's website 'of privileged views of the Douro River and valley'. There is no view of the Douro River and the view of the valley is completely spoilt by the numerous electricity pylons and high voltage cables. The hotel is surrounded by them! The swimming pool, while nice, is really a large plunge pool. Access to the hotel is not great, as it is single track, requiring someone to reverse and find a place where you can pass if meeting another vehicle. We had two evening meals in the restaurant which we really enjoyed. Breakfasts were also good. It is not a bad hotel, but should be more honest about its surroundings and facilities, so guests are not disappointed.

The hotel is a very good base to explore the Alto Douro region. Is close to Lamego, Régua and to other wineries. The food is very good and the staff is very attentive and helpful. We stay for 2 nights and it was quite enjoyable.

A beautiful quinta which had everything we needed!

A fantastic stay at a beautiful property with amazing views and surroundings - and dog friendly ! We had the best time including our Labrador who loved exploring the vineyards ! Shame we couldn’t use the pool as it wasn’t very suitable due to the weather, but nevertheless, it was a great experience ! Topping it off with great hospitality throughout !

If you’re looking for a place to escape the crowds of Porto and enjoy the beautiful vineyards, then this is your spot. Spacious rooms, small, but nice bar area and rooftop pool. Their wines are great, and food was very good for dinner (especially the octopus). Breakfast buffet was good, plus they made eggs to order along with fantastic bacon.

Spectacular stop in the Douro Valley

An amazing place to stay. It’s out of the way but well worth it. Spectacular views, great rooms, nice pool, and nice staff. Breakfast was also good. Dinner available at the hotel rather than driving into town.
