"I was in Iceland for the eclipse (which was completely obscured by clouds) and I had decided to watch from the Westfjords. This was the cheapest option in the Westfjords, albeit one about a four–five hour drive from the Bjargtengar peninsula where I was going to view the eclipse. I ended up staying here two nights (skipping the night after the eclipse which had super-high rates everywhere in Westfjords, not to mention all the restaurants effectively doubling their prices on eclipse day) and going whale-watching in Steingríms fjorður from Holmavik which was about an hour’s drive away.
The room was clean and pleasant, the restaurant likewise (I had dinner there the first night, and breakfast the first morning), the staff friendly and their (Norwegian?) grey parrot was definitely NOT pining for the fjords (nor was the arctic fox who seemed to show up every time I was in the restaurant). I had planned on using the pool, but got lazy and didn’t bother, but I did do a nice hike in the surrounding area.
This feels like it would be a great place to just enjoy the beauty of the Westfjords, although I would note that there is literally nothing nearby, so plan on doing some driving if you want activities outside what’s available on property."
