The hotel’s location is incredibly convenient—right on the island next to the Abbey, which made sightseeing easy. Parking is available just across the bridge, with a general shuttle running every six minutes. Since the area is highly touristic, the shuttle was quite crowded, so we chose to bring only essentials in our backpacks and left our larger bags behind.
As the hotel is housed in an older building, the rooms do not have air conditioning. Unfortunately, we visited during an early May heatwave (temperatures in the upper 20s°C), but sleeping with the windows open helped make things more comfortable.
One downside was that the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. There is no staff present in the building, so there was no communication or evacuation, which was concerning. Thankfully, it turned out to be a false alarm.
Staying on the island proved to be worthwhile. Once the day tourists had left, we were able to enjoy a much quieter and more atmospheric experience exploring the area. Breakfast was included, but unlike much of France, the quality left something to be desired.
Overall, the location was ideal for our plans, and we were happy with our choice despite a few shortcomings.
