Maisons du Monde Hôtel & Suites - La Rochelle Vieux Port
5/5 Excellent
"Perfect location in the old port of LaRochelle. We hired an Uber driver from the train station. The area is pedestrian only, for the most part. This hotel is literally surrounded by restaurants and gelato shops. There is a market right across the walk way, and the view of the towers is spectacular. All the sights are an easy, pleasant walk. We walked to the Ferris wheel.
Our room was comfortable. The ceiling above the bed is beautiful. It looks like fabric. We were on the fourth floor. We used the stairs except for when we were bring our luggage up. Air conditioning worked well.
The included breakfast was plentiful. Great variety of breads, meats, hard boiled eggs and cheeses with several fresh fruit options. We ordered fried eggs and they were cooked perfectly. The breakfast lady spoke English well and was friendly and cheerful.
The front desk people were pleasant and helpful. It was a bit more challenging to understand them, but we did, and everything was fine. They ordered a taxi for us to Ile De Re. The walk to meet the taxi was about two blocks.
We travel lightly. Only carry on wheelie bags and a backpack. Dealing with the pedestrian only aspect was not a problem for us. If we had big luggage it would have been challenging.
I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again. "

"Great place, new construction. It was really hot during my stay and I was surprise that there were no AC. It’s particularly a problem since my room is in the roundabout road side and noisy, moreover since there’s only one window, no air was going through "
