"We booked George B Boutique Lodge based on the positive Google reviews, but unfortunately our experience was completely different.
The lodge appears to still be under construction, with many broken items in the rooms, exposed electrical wiring around the property, mould on the ceilings, and basic necessities missing on arrival. We had to repeatedly ask for essentials like toilet paper, towels, teaspoons, and coffee cups. In my opinion, the lodge should not be accommodating guests in its current condition.
We also advised reception in advance that we would be leaving very early the next morning to attend a funeral, and were assured security would assist with handing in the keys. However, there was no security visible when we needed assistance.
To make matters worse, loud music and partying started from late afternoon and continued into the evening with no consideration for other guests. After travelling over five hours for a funeral, this was incredibly frustrating. Then, from around 11pm until after midnight, we received repeated phone calls from multiple numbers saying our reservation could no longer be honoured, while we were already checked in and trying to sleep. The situation was extremely unsettling and poorly handled.
The only positives were the very helpful security guard, who seemed to go above and beyond his role, and the outdoor jacuzzi, which was functional.
Overall, this was not the experience advertised online, and I believe future guests should be aware before"
"When I got there they told me they don't have a room, even though my booking was confirmed and fully paid for the room. And I was not refunded by the property."
"Very friendly owners who met us personally late on a Sunday afternoon. Great place with amazing food, if we are every back in Tzaneen again, this is the place to stay."
