"I was extremely disappointed with my recent stay at the Ramada Inn in Rome, NY. The first issue was that the photos used on the hotel's website are outdated and misleading. The pictures prominently show a Denny's Restaurant attached to the property, but the restaurant is no longer there and has been sitting vacant for quite some time.
The condition of the room was also unacceptable. Although I specifically booked a non-smoking room, it had a noticeable smoke odor upon entering. There were cobwebs around the windows, something splattered on the door, and the overall cleanliness was questionable. I found hair in the shower, and to make matters worse, a used towel was still hanging on the back of the bathroom door when I arrived.
Security and comfort were also concerns. The room door did not lock properly when leaving the room, which left me uneasy about my belongings. Additionally, the walls and doors seemed paper-thin, making it easy to hear every conversation and noise occurring just outside the room.
The complimentary breakfast was another disappointment. There was only a single waffle available, a small portion of eggs, some cereal, and yogurt—not nearly enough food to accommodate the number of guests coming down for breakfast. What was most concerning, however, was watching an employee smell the milk jug to determine whether it had expired before putting it out for guests.
Also the pool was not open post Memorial Day.
Overall, this stay fell far below expectations."
