I arrived at the hotel and was in the process of checking in around 8:30 PM when I noticed a sign indicating a parking fee. I informed the front desk clerk that I was willing to pay the fee, though I mentioned that the Expedia listing had stated there would be no additional charges beyond the quoted rate. I also noted - politely - that I intended to mention this discrepancy in my review for the benefit of other Expedia users.
At that point, the desk clerk informed me that, due to my intention to leave a negative review, he was refusing to rent a room to me. I want to emphasize that I remained completely courteous during the interaction and that the refusal was based solely on my stated intent to leave honest feedback regarding the unexpected parking fee.
As of today - five days later - La Quinta has not refunded the payment for my non-refundable room, nor have I received any response to my refund request.
For context, I have stayed over 50 nights in La Quinta properties booked through Expedia in the past year alone. In many years and hundreds of bookings via Expedia, I have submitted only two other negative reviews. This experience has been disappointing, to say the least, and not in keeping with the standards I’ve come to expect from La Quinta or Expedia.
