"The hotel is undergoing renovations and has already been rebranded to marriot but as it's not been updated on Google or hotel booking sites as such it caused confusion for many of our colleagues who were unsure if they've arrived at the correct hotel.
The hotel lobby and restaurant are still a building site so it wasn't the most welcoming arrival. Breakfast area was also still under construction so very disruptive and limited seating.
We've stayed here many times before but would have expected a clear message about the ongoing works and reflection on price. We booked 16 rooms for our business trip but after this stay unsure if we will stay again."
"Absolutely stunning place, that actually used to be owned by my family member, of whom I'm the last surviving one here, and I had no idea! I knew he was a well off local businessman, who I met lots as a little one in but I lost both of my parents so didn't get to know this, plus a previous generation fallout meant Set in such a beautiful setting, and really quiet.
We were here over the hot bank holiday and it was very busy, but still really quiet which we were shocked about. Room was clean and bathroom was nice, only issue is our 'double' bed was actually two twins pushed together, of different heights, so my partner and I were rather uncomfortable,"
"Quality hotel great facilities and happy staff.Eat in restaurant again good quality.Stayed overnight prior to an early flight from Birmingham next day.Relaxed great start to our holiday"
"We had a really lovely stay at voco Leicester. The hotel was welcoming, comfortable and genuinely dog friendly, which made such a difference when travelling with our third family member. Both my son and I really enjoyed our stay, and the atmosphere was warm, relaxed and family-friendly.
The staff were very helpful, the hotel itself was clean and stylish, and it was a great base for our visit. It is always a relief to find somewhere that makes furry family members feel welcome rather than like an inconvenience. Including at meal times. When we ate our dog ate; from scrambled egg for breakfast to freshly grilled chicken breast in the evening. The food tasted great and was very good value for money in terms of portion size and our pup would agree. My son and I throroughly enjoyed the mocktail menu!
The only downside was that we had expected there to be a gym and pool, as advertised, but unfortunately these facilities were not available. That was disappointing, especially as it had formed part of why we chose the hotel and due to the very hit weather the pool would have been an exceptionally welcome addition.
Overall, though, we had a positive experience and would happily stay again, particularly because of how dog friendly and comfortable it was."
"Room was so nice ! and being able to use the spa is always a plus, was a waitlist for the spa but when you get down go it it’s not overcrowded so i don’t mind that! Harry on reception was very helpful !"
"Was looking forward to the stay however very disappointed to say the least .
1.Most hotels if you get their early allow an earlier check in if there is availability- this hotel wants £25 per hour for an earlier checkin
2. As we got there early than check in, we used the pool. As this is a 4 star establishment , at the minimum expected body wash in the pool showers. There were 4 showers in changing rooms, all 4 soap dispensers empty. Makes me wonder , are the hourly checks actually being done ? Had to therefore have the shower in my room instead. When I made staff aware , at no stage was I offered soap/ for someone to refill it
3. Then we went out to get some food- drive to the barrier and it says to exit i need a code . I was never told.of a code at check in at all . Stuck at the barrier for 10 min as there isnt even a help button by the barrier. Ended up phoning the hotel to get the pin code to exit . Told the hotel we were never told of the code needed-- the staff response was you need to check the walls in reception , as code is there. Didn't realise, not have i ever been told to search walls of a hotel to see if I need any codes. The hotel should tell their patrons all the information they need .
Pool area was dated , didnt try the in house restaurant so cant comment on that
I personally wouldn't stay here again . Was expecting a 4 star hotel for a nice spa break with some nice treatments etc. Treatments we now booked elsewhere."
