East Bank
East Bank is where ancient Egypt comes to life through magnificent temples and vibrant local culture. Walk among towering columns at Karnak Temple or watch Luxor Temple glow golden at sunset. The area offers direct access to Egypt's most significant monuments. Local souks buzz with activity as shopkeepers sell colourful textiles, spices, and handcrafted souvenirs. Traditional Egyptian cafes serve authentic meals alongside the majestic Nile River. Horse-drawn carriages and tuk-tuks provide charming transport between these ancient wonders.

West Bank
Step into ancient Egypt on Luxor's West Bank where archaeological treasures emerge from golden desert sands. The Valley of the Kings houses pharaohs' tombs adorned with vivid hieroglyphs. Hatshepsut's terraced temple clings dramatically to limestone cliffs. The colossal Memnon statues stand sentinel over green fields. Traditional mud-brick villages with blue-accented Nubian architecture offer glimpses into authentic Egyptian life. Alabaster workshops showcase local artisans creating handcrafted sculptures. Most visitors cross the Nile by ferry or felucca boat from Luxor's East Bank. Desert paths connect these world-class historical sites where ancient stories come alive.

Nile River Luxor
The ancient Nile River area in Luxor places you at the doorstep of Egypt's most magnificent temples. Luxor Temple's towering columns glow golden at sunset, while nearby Karnak reveals sacred lakes and hieroglyph-covered walls. Watch traditional wooden feluccas sail past as you stroll the scenic Corniche promenade. This riverside haven offers the perfect blend of history and comfort. Hotel terraces provide breathtaking views of monuments that have stood for millennia. Horse-drawn carriages clip-clop along waterfront paths while restaurants serve authentic Egyptian cuisine. The neighborhood's warm ochre buildings and palm-lined walkways create an unforgettable Egyptian experience.

El Gezira
El Gezira offers a peaceful island retreat from Luxor's bustling tourist areas. This Nile-surrounded area showcases authentic Egyptian village life with colourful Nubian homes and small family farms. Local paths wind between traditional mud-brick houses where daily life unfolds at a gentle pace. The neighborhood's charm comes from genuine cultural immersion rather than tourist attractions. Travellers can hire felucca boats from waterfront docks, sample home-cooked Egyptian dishes, or simply wander the lush agricultural fields. The vibrant community welcomes respectful visitors seeking a quieter Egyptian experience.

Sonesta St George Hotel Luxor
"Our favorite hotel on Luxor, beautiful sunset views with the Nile as your back drop. The staff was so helpful and nice. They gave us the option of 2 different rooms, which my wife loved. The Italian restaurant on the main floor was our best meal in Egypt. 5 mins from Luxor Temple, 25 mins from Valley of the Kings."

Lotus Luxor Hotel
"The staff was great and very helpful. They allowed us to check in at 11:00 which was great after a long flight. They can arrange transportation and tours as well."
Djorff Palace
"This was my second visit to the Djorff Palace and it was every bit as good as the first. The hotel is in a beautiful location right on the Nile close to the valley of the kings. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable with an excellent air conditioning unit. Relaxing pool area with great sun beds set up daily with towels. Great breakfast and freshly cooked meals at lunchtime and dinner time, with daily changing menu. A huge bonus is the hotel’s own river boat that will take you across the Nile for free or down to the old town centre for a small charge and will then bring you back when your ready to return. Would highly recommend…."
Al Moudira Hotel
"you have to come in with appropriate expectations. This is Egypt and it's Luxor. The pictures make this look very beautiful, and a lot of the resort is picturesque, but what you don't see is you get dropped off on a street and walk through a metal detector, there are A LOT of mosquitoes, and the rooms are tired. I mean, I walked in and could see from across the room that the mattress was shot, with huge depressions where people had been sleeping over the years, and my back hurt all week. The air conditioners worked but were super loud. The rooms are huge but pretty dilapidated, with weird bathrooms. The pool was really nice and the staff were very nice. Our guide warned us that many of his clients staying here had gotten 'food poisoning', and I did indeed get travelers diarrhea here. I cannot be sure where I got it but we only ate at the hotel and Im a doctor who is very germaphobic and Im an experienced traveler, I never touch tap water even for the toothbrush. I was the only one of my family who ate salad twice, so that is a possible source. I should know better than ordering a salad, but I thought it would be safe in the hotel. Totally my fault, but would ask the hotel to make sure they are not washing vegetables in tap water. The doctor on site was super nice and helpful and gave me cipro/flagyl which took care of it in a couple of days. We ended our stay early. I will not be coming back. Its probably nice by Luxor standards, just set your expectations appropriately."
Pyramisa Hotel Luxor
