Porto Velho Boutique Lodge

"This place was amazing! It’s right by the water, with the ferry literally at your doorstep. Waking up each morning was great, especially with the waterfront views of Faial. They have coffee available 24/7 and pastries in the morning, plus a few local shops nearby for food, delicious may I add! I stayed in the basement and it was great. The place was very clean, had a kitchen with plates and dishes, and I absolutely loved the terrace. Yes, you can hear the church bells since the place is directly across from a church, and you can hear people if they’re loud upstairs, but that’s pretty normal for a basement. I’m not a light sleeper, and I slept like a baby here. The room did get a bit humid at night, but they had an AC unit, which was perfect. The location is central to everything in Madalena. The grocery store is about a 5-minute walk, and you’re within walking distance of pretty much anything you need. It’s also only about 10 minutes from the airport. The staff were incredibly kind and gave great recommendations for places to see. Entry and exit were easy, they had secure places for your bags in the room which is important to me. I cannot praise this place enough. If you need somewhere to stay in Madalena, I honestly wouldn’t recommend looking anywhere else. The location, the views, the staff, and the place itself were all perfect. I would absolutely stay here again!"

"Nicely located, convenient with underground parking. The breakfast buffet was a nice and complementary pastries and water bottle in the room. Inside of hotel and room, it was a bit outdated, but still comfortable for 2 nights. Awesome shower pressure! Nice view on Pico Island from their terrace. Overall, I’d go back."

"This is an excellent place to stay! The amenities are fantastic, and the staff were incredibly accommodating. They let my friend and me use the spa on our check-out day while we waited for our airport transfer, which was such a nice touch. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious, the rooms are spacious, and the outdoor pool is lovely. I highly recommend staying here!"

"Every single staff member was warm and welcoming. The hotel is well-maintained and the room was very clean. The Japanese toilet in the room was a nice amenity, and toiletries were also available on the bathroom counter. The bed was comfortable and I like the different lighting options you can use. The pool was my favorite feature of the hotel. It's on the roof where you can also access the spa. The pool and hot tub are connected so you can easily switch from one to the other. It's a small, shallow pool, so there is no diving and not much room to swim - all you can pretty much do is just float in the pool, which is really all you need. The hotel is a block away from a park/garden and a couple of blocks away from the marina. Everything is walkable. The front desk staff were very helpful. They gave me great suggestions for restaurants, shopping, and even helped me reserve a taxi tour of the island. I will definitely be staying here again."

"The hostel is such a lovely place, very good located and the staff was really helpful, wherever you need they are always there to help you. Very nice and peaceful place. 100% recommended. The unic thing that I missed was a kitchen so you can cook your own food. But there are very nice local restaurants beside the hostel."
