Clean, comfortable, friendly, and a great location. Karla was a fabulous host, her breakfast was so delicious with fresh Ecuadorian fruits, eggs and bread. The grounds are beautiful, lovely pool surrounded by lush local gardens and indigenous pottery. Our cottage was clean and spacious, with a comfortable bed and ample storage space. We had a fabulous 5 nights, thanks to Karla's hospitality, lovely weather and the Pacific Ocean just across the road.

Small hotel close to the beach.

This was our first stop after flying to Manta on the coast of Ecuador. It was right in the middle of the country's carnival which made the town very congested and noisy. When we arrived and asked for confirmation of the free breakfast, we were told it wasn't included. However, upon showing the written confirmation, the owner agreed. Although they do not appear to be well set up for providing breakfasts, the staff did put together a good breakfast for us. I think if we had purchased one of their larger rooms our experience might have been a lot better, but they were full on the night of arrival. The room we had was very small, and although it had all the features mentioned below, it did not meet our needs so we left after the first night even though we were paid for three nights. We drove to a different town with a nicer beach and stayed there for three nights. Even though the new place cost a bit more and had none of the features listed below under "...likes...", we found it much better than Cottages by the Sea because it was spacious, airy, well-lit, modern, very clean, had lots of hooks & hangers and places to put our bags and things, had two multi-speed fans in each room and had an immaculate, bright bathroom with high-end fixtures.

Al llegar al hotel nos informaron que no existían habitaciones disponibles, a pesar de contar con una reservación confirmada y pagada al 100%. Esta situación nos generó una molestia y preocupación considerables, especialmente por tratarse de una llegada planificada con anticipación. Aún más preocupante fue constatar que el encargado que nos atendió no tenía conocimiento alguno de nuestra reservación, ya que —según nos indicó— esta no se encuentra vinculada al sistema regular de reservas del hotel. Considero que este es un fallo grave en la gestión interna, que no debería recaer en los huéspedes. Dicho esto, considero importante resaltar y agradecer la excelente actitud y predisposición del encargado que nos atendió. A pesar de la situación, buscó activamente una solución y, gracias a su iniciativa, logró reubicarnos en un departamento externo, en un edificio particular (no dentro de las instalaciones del hotel), evitando así que nos quedáramos sin alojamiento esa noche. Su manejo del inconveniente fue lo único que alivió una experiencia que, de otra manera, habría sido completamente negativa. Agradecería se revise internamente lo ocurrido para evitar que una situación similar vuelva a repetirse con otros huéspedes.

The property is beautifully maintained in a small fishing village with great character. The owner and staff make you feel at home once you walk through the gates. First to time to Ecuador and it will not be our last to this unique hotel. You can hear the Ocean all day and night from every room and it is only footsteps away. Awesome place and hospitality and some cold beer and cool sunsets. There is good wifi but leave your D^%n phone in the room.
