"Overall, the stay was fine. The property was clean and the room was sufficient. However, we had a very unpleasant experience with a staff member named Phil, we believe (he would not actually give us his name, we had to ask another staff member). My colleague and I were staying the night in advance of a work event the following day. Everything was proceeding fine until our smoke detector started beeping at 5:30am and giving us a "low battery" message. We called the front desk and were told that someone would come up in 20 minutes. 20 minutes passed and no one arrived. We called again at about 6am and someone (Phil) finally came up. He walked into our room, flipped the massive overhead light on, did not greet us, did not offer an apology, started tinkering with the detector. He had not even brought extra batteries with him, which seemed like an obvious solution. So he had to leave and come back. He switched out the batteries and immediately went to leave. My colleague asked if he would mind staying to make sure the beeping had actually stopped. He said no. He left. The detector started beeping again. My colleage called him back. He came back in twice to try to fix the issue, cursing under his breath the entire time. He never actually fixed the issue, and did not offer an apology or a solution. My colleague went downstairs at one point and asked if we could at least switch rooms. He said no. She asked for a partial refund. He said no. It was all insanely rude."
