The lodge provided a convenient and comfortable base for our trip. The location is ideal - it's an easy walk to the supermarket, restaurants, and the shuttle bus pickup for Mt Hutt skiing. The lodge itself is quiet and relaxed. Our room was clean and the beds were comfortable.

Back again to ski second year in a row.
This was our second trip to Snow Denn and we had another enjoyable stay. The owner is very friendly and helpful and it was great to see how much her young child had grown since our visit last year. Our boys were happy to be back. The kitchen and bathroom were nice and clean and the other guests friendly and quiet. Nice central location, very near to both supermarkets and in town eateries. All very short walking distance.

What a lovely place to stay! Very clean and tidy, comfy room, the owner is super friendly and helpful. I'd definitely go back again!

Good Bathrooms, Kitchen & dining room with fireplace, and lounge room. Located fairly close to shops and food & beverage outlets and has private car parking on site available. However the room I stayed in (twin dorm with bunk bed) was really small and had bad soundproofing so all the noise from people talking in kitchen and dining room, shower and toilet came straight through the walls.

So cosy my boys didn't want to go home!
My two young boys and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Snow Denn Lodge. It was a lovely warm and welcoming hostel, with comfy made up beds and a wood burning stove lit each evening in the kitchen/dining/common area. The kitchen was well equipped and clean and there was a lovely big dining table that was great for meeting other Lodge residents around. I loved that I could easily recycle our waste and even feed food scraps to the owners' chooks (via collection bucket). My boys loved hanging out in the comfortable lounge area upstairs, with great views over to Mount Hutt. We even met another family to ski with through staying here. They come back annually, apparently. Plus, when a favourite cuddly toy was accidentally left behind, Laura, one of the owners, located it and is couriering it home to us. Great, friendly service from her, partner Tim and baby Tessa!! I'm sure we'll be back...

Favorite in Methven!
Excellent lodge, esp for before and after Mt Hutt ski days! Friendly hosts, comfy clean rooms, great kitchen & lounge area, & walking distance to everything!

Nice little place, stayed here in the Summer so we had it mostly to ourselves. 100m from the shops, nice place to crash for a bit. Kitchen lacking a few things, and sound travels pretty well around the place, but great service and a really nice place to stay!

Neat and tidy hostel, good choice of accommodation. Close to local amenities. Ski bus stops at front door.

Alles gut!
Sehr nettes Hostel, dass allerdings in die Jahre gekommen ist. Küche und Aufenthaltsräume sind super gemütlich und auch sauber. Zimmer sind recht einfach. Die Lage mitten im Ort ist super.

George is the key !
Please understand that the Snow Den is a youth hostel. This is certainly not a negative, in fact I see it as a positive. Don't expect room service, a catered dining room or fully stocked bar ... because you'll be disappointed. This is inexpensive accommodation - not a 'cheap' nights stay. The Snow Den has a community feel. There is always something happening that you can be part of. The owner - George - makes this place. He has two separate "lounge rooms" - one for sports and the other for movies. He's a wealth of local knowledge - always around to help or tell a good story. On the last night of our stay, he came into the dining room with a case and shouted the patrons. George makes this 'the' place to stay.

It was a great place to stay for what was required for my group. We probably didn't need two rooms in the end but everyone was friendly
