Room was fantastic, the in-room onsen was an amazing bonus. But the view wasn’t really ‘mountain’ - instead it was a giant bush and men doing work. While the hotel is supposed to be in a remote setting, it is a bit inconvenient to get to with a lack of amenities/dining options and no guidance from the hotel. The gym facilities were appalling for a five star hotel.

Amenities and location

The hotel was amazing! We had a private onsen room, which was very relaxing before having beautiful 5 course dinners in the hotel restaurant. The staff were so kind and friendly to us. We don’t speak Japanese but we were made to feel very welcome.

Concierge staff were amazing . Many thanks

Delicious and beautifully presented meals served by friendly and helpful staff. Scenic onsen- a lovely stay.

After being in Japan for 10days and staying in relatively modern hotels with small rooms, it was delightfully refreshing to be staying in a hotel where room space was more than adequate. Yes, the decor is old fashioned and may appear tired however the surroundings, the staff and the excellent service more than compensate. All staff spoke excellent English and could not do enough to ensure our stay was enjoyable. The "silver" service at breakfast is far above anything I have experienced before...

Where can we start? The food was simply out of this world, both dinner and breakfast. They catered to a vegetarian and were very attentive. The room was amazing, spacious, with all kinds of amenities included, free drinks, tea and coffee, a Bluetooth speaker and of course a private osen on the balcony facing a bamboo forest. Everything was top-notch. We booked the pool/sauna downstairs, and that was fantastic, as well as the gym. We also enjoyed drinks at the bar, including the Japanese whiskey....

Due to location food and drink options at hotel we’re limited

Our spacious, comfortable room had a stunning view over the lake with Mt Fuji in the background. The staff were very attentive, especially in the main ryoken restaurant where we ate breakfast and dinner. Food was traditional, delicious and they catered well for my partner’s vegetarian diet (we informed the property a few days ahead). The public onsen was good to access directly from the hotel and provided a beautiful view over the lake. Very quiet. Courtesy bus makes it easy to reach the main...

Excellency Rooms on Top floors are incredible. So nice to stay in a traditional luxury Japanese room. Use of Onsen each day was a great experience and the bonus of a private Onsen was great. Would stay again. Very friendly staff and all in all a very relaxing stay.

Incredible destination hotel. Small and intimate. Incredible culinary experience.

This place was excellent, great service, staff were helpful. There are 2 top tier restaurants, a spa with great aromatherapy massage service, there is a relax room on the 12F of the main building with excellent views of Mt Fuji on a clear day. Breakfast has a choice of Japanese style or western and the 2 restaurants including Teppanyaki or Italian. Finally there are nice walks around the garden and pond area as well as a public bath which is well maintained. The hotel seems almost brand new!...

What an amazing hotel. The highlight is the onsen, absolutely incredible. They have 2 onsen rooms, male and female. Both rooms have 2 onsens, indoors and outdoors, as well as a sauna. Changing rooms are clean with hair dryers, towels, lockers and other amenities. Staff were very kind, allowed us to borrow umbrellas when it was raining, they have a giftshop inside too. 10/10
