"The staff were great and the food was great. Room condition was worn. Closet light flashed like a strobe light, there were many missing lights, shower had a great overhead shower head but you had to fight the engagement knob to get it to get it to work. And then there were the cats that hung out at your feed when you were eating mewing continually. See photo. The food was great and the pool was amazing."

"We had come to this resort after dealing with another nightmare of a resort. Our stay here salvaged our trip. The staff were amazing, our room was amazing l, the food was amazing. The only complaint I would have is that everything we would go to the buffet someone would steal our table. The staff were again great with removing the persons or getting us a new table. The breakfast buffet had some very good choices. There are almost a couple restaurants on the property. Unfortunately for our stay we weren't able to make it to the Spice Route. The resort is also close to some local shopping. It was nice to get out and explore. I can't say enough about the staff. From the check in experience to the the check out, I'm horrible with names, there are so many people I would like to thank by name, but I can't remember their names. Charles our room steward was the only one I remember. Would definitely stay here again."

"Staff was the highlight of the stay - super friendly and helpful. Room is dated already, not much amenity (had to ask for hair dryer every time needed to use). Same chain as Boxo so sometimes Boxo guests sneaked in and used the pool which was not very nice. An ok stay, bit less quality than the price paid"

"I have stayed at the Serena several times over the past 20 years. In fact, of the 80 countries I have visited the Serena in Mombasa is still my favorite place in the world. The staff, including front dest staff (namely, Althuman) and the wait staff are outstanding. Many are long-term staff who have obviously been well-trained in customer service. The Maisha Spa is always worth a visit. The property is beginning to show signs of aging so I hope there are plans to upgrade it, while not loosing its Swahili Coast charm. I have been a fan for a long time and will be back again!"

"Stayed for 2 nights, team of welcoming and helpful staff throughout, very good breakfast, clean room with aircon, quiet area but close enough to reach other places. I would definitely recommend this hotel."
