The front desk staff did not know about the digital identification card “The Real I.D.” From the state of Maryland and said she could not accept it for check in. Then she called someone to ask if they could accept it. Of course I could only her one side of the conversation. She demanded I swipe an actual credit card as if they could not accept Apple Pay all of which had my government name on them— the reservation from Expedia, the real ID and my Apple Pay. Needless to say at 11pm at night I was tired and frustrated. I’m not sure who the second woman at the desk with her was but she had her face all balled up looking me up and down which was very rude, embarrassing and unnecessary. I travel on US government business all the time so I had my physical copy of my government issued Common Access Card and asked if she wanted to see it and she refused it. In the end common sense prevailed after she demanded I produced a hard copy of my credit card only for me to see that the credit card machine accepted was digital payment and a hard copy of the card was not needed.
Had I been told digital identification and payment were not accepted at the time I made the reservation online I would have had it available. But digital identification and payment is the way all businesses are going now and I use them all the time. Their staff should be trained in there use and acceptance.
