Quaint, walkable old town with many lovely, older restored buildings and a working aspect. I liked the mix of an attractive tourist area and businesses that provide jobs in the area. Anacortes felt like a real place, not a tourist trap.

With some of our favorite restaurants and a treasure of an independent bookstore, Anacortes is one of our retirement possibilities. So many places to step out into natural beauty and long relaxing vistas.

Sorry we were only there for one night. Definitely a good place to explore and base for the San Juan Islands.

Great place to go. The islands are wonderful. The views are breathtaking. The cashier at Safeway was not likable though lol. I think she hates tourists.

We really enjoyed our time in Anacortes. We shopped at Safeway, ate @ Anthony's and got our morning @ the coffee shop across the street. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. We found everything we needed.

Good
My only disappointment with this trip is that so many restaurants were closed on Sunday and the ones that were opened closed pretty early.
