"Hotel Posthoorn was a highlight of our trip. Located in the charming town of Monnickendam, it offers an authentic Dutch experience away from the crowds. The town is quaint, welcoming, and easy to explore, with exceptionally clean and efficient public transportation making travel simple.
The hotel exceeded expectations. The accommodations were elegant, comfortable, and impeccably maintained. The staff were outstanding—friendly, professional, and genuinely accommodating. A special thank you to Sara, whose warmth and attentiveness made our stay especially memorable.
For the quality of the rooms, service, and location, the cost was absolutely worth it. The only drawback was breakfast. While fresh and well-prepared, the selection felt limited for the price. More protein options and fresh vegetables would greatly improve the experience beyond the breads, cold cuts, and omelets offered.
One travel tip: wait until you arrive before booking excursions. Giethoorn, while picturesque, felt overrated and required nearly two hours of travel each way for a short canal ride. Instead, visit nearby Edam and Volendam. The Edam Cheese Museum is fascinating, and Volendam is perfect for strolling the harbor, exploring the streets, and taking the ferry.
Overall, Hotel Posthoorn provides exceptional accommodations, outstanding service, and an ideal base for exploring a beautiful and authentic part of the Netherlands."
