Thanks Ms. Davis for your 3 stars out of 5 stars. Wandering where we lost 2 stars? You asked for extra 3 sets of towels, we provided, you couldn’t find TV remote we provided the help, you had 4 adults in your room even if you checked only 2 adults when paying price. The only thing we can think of that you asked for baby milk which we didn’t carry but disabled to walking to close convenience store. We are sorry that we couldn’t reach to your full satisfaction. Hope next time will do better and get 5 out of 5 stars.

Overall it was a clean hotel very friendly and helpful staff but the pool and hot tub didn’t work and I don’t call a thermos of coffee and Walmart pop tarts contanental breakfast

Thanks for the review of your stay with us Mr. Shaffer. Sorry pool and spa were closed because of Maintenance, waiting for the parts for the pool heater, spa we are painting. Mr. Shaffer we don’t have a permit to serve hot breakfast. It is only continental which includes Donuts, Muffins, Honey Buns, Cakes, Cookies, and Crackers, Pop tarts, Oatmeal, and fresh fruit. Wandering why you noticed just coffee maker and pop tarts. We keep replenishing them during breakfast hours if run out. We apologize for not meeting your expectations regarding breakfast, and pool and spa. Thanks so very much for giving us 4/5 points. Very much appreciated.

Thanks Ms. Tanner for describing your 1 night stay with us as “Good” and for giving us 8 out of 10 points. Unfortunately your short comments were way away from the facts. No you didn’t wait for 1hr to check in, you know that! Your reservation came at 10:10 pm. You said you arrived in 20 minutes at 10:30 pm. Front desk personnel met you at the counter exactly 10:45 pm. You both looked at the wall clock together, when you complained. At the time of check out you told the FD girl that you had to wait ½ hr which in the review became over an hour, so quick!After 10 pm business is slow and no activity so the FD perform their other duties and don’t have to be at the FD doing nothing. They have placed a sign on the counter that they “will be right back” and phone # is provided to call if someone arrives when nobody there so they can call that number. It was only a few minutes for the FD to arrive if they are away from FD. No it is nobody fault that you had to wait 15 minutes because your reservation had very short time span for us to receive the reservation and make it in our system and then be ready and expect your arrival. We apologize again. BTW….Are you aware that we are the only hotel in this town which accepts local reservations because of such encounters, they have with locals, no other hotel does that. You live only ½ hr drive from here.

Thanks Mr. William for your review but ironically you never stepped on our property and never stayed here before or now or have any reservations in the future with us. How can you review your stay with us and give us 1 star when there is NO STAY whatsoever, on their name. This is appalling that Expedia allows such fake reviews to surface and entertain rather post them on our hotel. Nobody can put a review for someone else if they do they still have to use guest name, not their name. They themselves need to stay here in order to review their stay with us even if they paid for someone else. Sorry we don’t respond to illegitimate reviews!

Thank you very much John for the review of your last week stay with us. We upgraded your Regular Suite to Extra Large Honeymoon Suite which is like an executive suite, at no extra charge because we wanted you to enjoy your stay with us. You were actually 2 adults declared, one King size bed should have been enough for both of you. We however will check into that mattress issue and take care of it. We will also have maintenance check the pressure in Jacuzzi jets but nobody ever complained before because it is automatic. Thanks for your good comments about the staff and location. Sorry Mr. Stocker you gave us 1 out of 5 points even if you didn’t stay or experience a single thing wrong that you encountered. You can not say “room was gross” because in your words “you look around and left”. In other words didn’t touch bed and bathroom or anything in room to substantiate the claim, the room was so called “gross”. Funny thing is that Mr. Stocker, please read the very last review in Expedia in our site where guest gave us 10 out of 10, who came just one day before you did. You know what room it was? It was room 118 which you called “gross”. So ironic if that guest in reading this he must be ROFL because he was not gonna give us 10/10 if anything, a single thing wrong in that room. Anyone reading these 2 reviews can easily tell, there got to be something else that you didn’t stay, certainly not the room, which we don’t want to speculate, you know better because we know it was NOT the room itself. You know this hotel very well before making booking because Expedia tells everything up front not only the prices but all reviews good and bad, o you could make a wise and informed decision before booking, which we are sure you did all due diligence then made the booking but now put blame on the “gross room” which just got 10 out of 10 a day before from another guest. You must be expecting HIEX set up which you pay 189 a night plus tax but here only 76.79 a night. That gives you 2 night stay here equal to 1 night there. You paid to Expedia and sign their cancellation policy which requires 24 hr cancellation notice which you didn’t. So you got charged by Expedia. You gained nothing even if makes you feel good by writing a bad review against our hotel for no reason, where you didn’t even stay. Front Desk even offered you to switch room at no charge if that was an issue but you declined. Was not a smart decision Mr. Stocker, anybody can tell rather hurtful to others. We did nothing wrong to you!

We travel somewhere different every year for my daughter’s memorial this year we chose West Virginia! Worst mistake !😡 We got to our room after dinner thinking we were gonna enjoy the hot tub but to our surprise nothing but mud came out of the faucet I went downstairs to make a report then was told by the gentleman at the desk to keep running the water which did not work we could not use it after paying for a suit then my husband went to turn tv on it didn’t work the guy at the desk finally got the tv working ! When I went to check out yesterday instead of the young girl offering to make the stay right she was just worried about taking the taxes out of my deposit for the stay !! We never even got offered another room !! When ask if pool was in working condition was told yes but it’s not heated and the hot tub was out of service ! Will never return again

We apologize for your less than satisfactory stay with us. No, you didn’t make “Worst mistake” because WV is wild and Wonderful. People call it little Heaven. Your brown water for the first 5 minutes in the Jacuzzi was because we got water tank repaired. During the time repairs was going on sediments from water heater travel through the pipes and water becomes initially little brownish but then become clear. If you or any reader has gotten water heater changed, they know exactly what we are talking about. Jacuzzi’s have a special wide pipe so it takes little longer to get water clear but nothing uncommon or out of ordinary. You had clear water in your sink in your bathroom tub and shower and toilet, the whole time of course. The manager stays on the property and his room happen to be right under your suite. He has the timing when you started the Jacuzzi and when ended. That was 9pm to 10:20pm non stop, so you did enjoy your Jacuzzi minus 5 minutes of water draining first that is exactly what Front Desk told you. As you know when FD came to your suite the TV was already working. Must be a loose connection in the start or it was just the remote. He changed the batteries in remote any way but nothing more he did, was nothing wrong with TV. Matter of fact we check each room every single item for before guest arrives and your suite was double checked because it is a bigger room and has a hot tub. Young girl upon check out tried to explain the water color situation but you refused to listen, nothing more she could do because nothing wrong we did. Brown water (not muddy or dirty water) in the beginning is just normal when water heater gets changed, everyone knows. Of course she has to collect local taxes from you because Expedia cannot collect local taxes. We do it for the City and Municipality. She could not do anything about it, not in our control to void them. We have only 1 Non smoking Suite. Other suites are smoking, we could gladly switched that if you would have asked which you never did, yes we would have done it, no question asked. Yes pool heater is not working for the max capacity, so water is not warm enough, not 89F however 80F. You had the option to swim and we told you that. Spa is out of order; it has pump issues and waiting fro parts which come only from pool places, not readily available in the market. Sorry again that you were not happy with your stay but you however stayed till the last minute and enjoyed your Jacuzzi for 1.5 hours before going to bed as well as the king bed and took basket full of amenities home as a souvenir from WV.

Thanks Ms. Edgell for reviewing your 2 day stay with us but shocked to see that you gave us only 2 out of 10 points. You never mentioned what was wrong during your stay in order for us to lose 8 points that was fair, legitimate and honest way of grading something, as you agree! You did not say a single word during your 2 day stay with us, about anything being unsatisfactory or you would have checked out same day or next day however not only that you stayed the entire reservation of 2 days but also said “Good” when we asked you “How was your stay” upon your check out at 9:35 am on Sunday 7/16/23. Now we are wandering what is true, the word “Good” and not a beep during your 2 day stay from your room or this bad review, which has no basis or no grounds as far as we know! You checked in Room #106 you came from 98F outside on that day, burning hot, so room didn’t feel cold enough for you. You didn’t complain though. Your roommate said that but only when we made courtesy call asking how is your room? We quickly changed your room to #107 gave you new keys then made another courtesy call to this new room. then both of you said “lot better” and you both were happy in that N/S room with 2 full size beds and comfortably cold temperatures. Now all of a sudden, just because Expedia asked this routine question to all their bookings to grade your stay, you came around and bit us from behind with no indication that you were not happy with your room, or any thing was wrong in your room very unfortunate!Ms. Edgell we did the best in our power to please you but yet, some people can NEVER be pleased, no matter what one does. Look at the price you paid for 2 nights was equal to 1 night of HIEX and you gave us no reason at all why you were not satisfied, so we can address the issues. God Bless Management

I have stayed at this property several times. I have never had an issue. I want to begin saying that Jesse is an AMAZING employee and needs a raise and an OSCAR for still smiling and being kind to guests even though he was over worked and exhausted. The pool was not open. It needed maintenance on the heat pump. I was there 3 days and never saw it being addressed. The first room we were put in did not have working AC and I assume that is why there were about 30 boxes of AC units stacked at the entrance. The room smelled of mildew/black mold. The "breakfast" was Nutter bars and Ho Hos that I am pretty sure were discontinued in the '90s. Saying that this place was a disappointment is an understatement. I will not being staying there again. Not only out of the poor conditions of the facility, but how they treat their employees. #jessierocks

Thanks Ms. Heather for the review of your stay. That helps us to improve our drawbacks. We apologize for your less than satisfactory stays. You stayed in your first room barely for 5 minutes total and we switched your room as soon as you called for room not being very cold. We intentionally did not give you that room, we were not aware about the problem which is now fixed, the unit just needed to be cleaned. Moreover you had no complaint whatsoever about 2nd room, we even made courtesy call and you said everything was great. Maintenance man was off over the weekend when you stayed. He worked on pool heater problem today. They are all man made things, they can malfunction any time. We are humans just have to keep fixing things. BTW we didn’t find any mildew in the room nor did you say anything about it during your stay, you however missed waffle maker, fresh batter, and syrup goes with it, next to the table FULL of breakfast stuff and all cakes and muffins and fruits. Jesse took picture of all that counter full of breakfast items after he set it up. Please don’t forget we only serve a CONTINETAL BREAKFAST not a full breakfast. Thanks for the nice comment about Jesse, he appreciates it very much but sad that you will not visit us again, hope you’ll reconsider! Like you said “I never had an issue before” things happen in life.

Btw…Daisy, Bob Evans got internal fire 2 months ago so closed down for restoration. You might have seen restoration trucks working on. McDonalds is open 24 hrs on weekends and until midnight during weekdays. Moreover Subway also walking distance as well as Peking Buffet. Then Speedway has 24 hr snacks and hot dogs available. You were a no show so as per your contract with Expedia you were subjected to just 1 night of no show charges. Both checkin and checkout staff had to do register paperwork several times. Stuffy smell in the lobby and in the room. Pool closed by the Dept of Health. Towels in horrible condition..old and muggy looking. Bedsheets with stains.Sink and bathtub stained and just disgusting. I really hated every moment I had to spend there. Left as soon as I could Really really really a bad place to stay! My money should have been refunded.

Dear Ms. Anonymous, We are extremely taken aback with your input because you didn’t say a single word when you checked out at 7:40am on Saturday 10/15 and you also checked out your other room. We have a courtesy call log when we called to see if all OK in your room, so we could change it if anything wrong, you or your friend both didn’t say anything wrong, rather said “OK” and “Looks fine” on Friday 10/14/22 at 2:10pm. We even gave you our pen with our name and phone number at the time of check out, you said “Thanks” but didn’t mention anything was unsatisfactory during your say, rather said “Good”, as we asked “how was your stay and if there was any problem in the room”? Two straightforward questions. We shown you ice maker and scooper at 5am, that you couldn’t find. We are shocked but we still apologize for your dissatisfaction.Sheets and towels cant be stained, because we have boxes and boxes of new sheets and towels and we discard any stained laundry on daily basis and have bags and bags of stained laundry, if you ever return, so we can show you.If you see the overall reviews on Hotel.com, you will see on the left hand side of the same page we are at 7.2 on property condition and overall 7.8 rating, why no other guest finds what you are saying is wrong?? Right underneath your review, on the same page, the reviews are “8/10 Very Good on 10/14/22” and “8/10 Very good on 10/6/22” and “10/10 Exceptional on 9/29/22” and “10/10 Exceptional on 7/21/22”. That is why we are stunned and blew our minds with your comments.Since you came from Expedia, so we have to do more paperwork to satisfy their rules and requlations, which certainly take little more time than someone who books directly with the hotel. We apologize that you feel it was a sluggish process.We have a ceiling fan on in lobby plus PTAC unit in the wall on the floor running non stop with A/C or heat or fan, whatever needed, then how can it be stuffy. Lobby inside the double glass door after vestibule, so cold or hot air doesn’t escape. Every hotel is like that unless you never been to any name brand hotel. We apologize for that.Yes, pool is closed for maintenance. The special Virginia Greahm drain cover needs to be replaced in spa, nothing else is wrong, it is just a safety issue for kids. Very hard to get those things and have to be special ordered. We are sorry for that, but not in our control.Similarly bathtubs/sinks can not be stained, they get scrubbed with commercial cleaner everyday, like we said before, why nobody else sees the things that you mentioned. Looks like you want to use everything in the book to write to prove your point, but you forgot to mention that you paid half the price of a room here where the other 2 hotels in town charge for the same comfortable stay (even if you don’t agree), double the price because of big chain. Like we said we could have changed your room in a heartbeat if you would have said anything, but now you threw the whole book on

Needs a lot of improvements!
This hotel needs many improvements. It’s definitely showing age and wear and tear. Renovations to the rooms are necessary. Beds/bathrooms/carpeting etc. The doors to outside are not locked because the card scanners are missing or broken. This is a security issue.

It is a dated property which needs an upgrade. My biggest complaint would be that the back door nearest the river is always open because there is not a lock on it. Anyone could al least come in to the Motel without a card key.

It worked
The hotel was difficult to find, New Martinsville Inn was only on the entrance to the lobby doon on a paper. Another hotel chain sign was at the street and above the hotel itself. There was no breakfast, but places to eat within walking distance. Security was poor.

Don’t waste your money! Rude Owner! Old rooms/beds
Took over an hour to check I. Because the owner was trying to make us pay more even though we had completely paid through hotel.com. He argued with us for over an hour, and we were in the middle of an ice/snow storm but he didn’t care. The beds are 30 plus years old (springs and all)! Rooms are very over priced for the condition and age! The water in the tub was brown even after running it for a while. The carpets were disgustingly dirty! If this is the only hotel available, I will sleep in my car next time or drive 30 mins for a nicer, newer, and much cheaper hotel where the owner isn’t going to treat me like this! NOT AMERICAN OWNED!

This review is the reflection of the person who is writing the review and the standard of decency they are blessed with. First of all the Owner never ever spoke to the guest. Front desk was talking to GM in those late hours when problem arose, which was very simple because that was the very first reservation came from Hotels.com. We were not clear about local taxes and lodging taxes and municipal taxes that how Hotel.com can collect and remit to local township. No doubt they can collect State Sales Tax, but not the other taxes and all we were asking them to pay those few dollars in taxes which were not going to hotels revenue but straight to taxing bodies. They refused, we still checked them in and gave them a suite with Jacuzzi for total of $88.70 including all taxes. We had to adjust the suite price from $135.95 plus tax to $76.40 plus tax and ate loss of $67.89, where Hotels.com made $54.80 from this transaction. Guest got Hotel.com Supervisor involved, where we never said “we will not give you room”, but just tried to explain that they need to pay local taxes, but they want their money back even if didn’t pay a dime to us but to Hotel.com. Anybody can see where they were coming from when they wrote. Hotel is NOT AMERICAN OWNED, so that was the solo reason for all the negative points, one by one in the review, one can tell. Hotel management got involved and sent not one but 2 apology notes to the guest for the misunderstanding when guest was still at the hotel, but people with high level of decency are the ones who say sorry and who accept unconditional apology as well. Nothing we would have done that could make them happy because of “not American owned” issue! Yes, Hotel is not brand new but look what they paid , $67.89 plus tax for a Jacuzzi suite. There is no hotel in 50 mile radius who can honor that price. Newer hotels in this town start at $179 plus tax for a regular room. Any one can Google and find out. They came here because of the price and said very clearly when checking out next morning “we had a nice room and no issues but only at the time of check in”. We again apologized, that was the third one, but it would have worked if hotel was “American owned”, as per their review. There is absolutely nothing wrong in that suite or with any room in the hotel, but review is just a reflection of the grudge, nothing else.
