On our arrival, we were greeted by a mountain of trash bags in the lobby. Apparently, the trash chute/compactor wasn't working. The stench was overwhelming and even though the trash was removed by the next morning, the smell lingered for our entire 5 night stay. Fortunately, the smell was confined to the lobby and the hallway areas. The inside of our unit was fine.
The room maintenance and cleanliness could have been better. The very first (and alarming) thing we experienced was when we got to the front door of our assigned unit. The door jamb was seriously damaged and looked like it had been burgled. On a closer look, guessing it was forced open by Fire or Police. That it's still broken doesn't give a sense of security. The shower floor was dirty and there was lint buildup creeping under the door of the laundry closet. The shower door leaked like crazy so there was standing water on the floor after every shower. It appeared to have been recently painted as there were paint droplets everywhere-on the floor, walls, the trash can, even on the couch!
For the positives, the AC worked well. Having a dryer was great for drying towels after showers. The TV in the bedroom was a smart tv so we could log in to our streaming apps and watch tv when the weather was inclimate (the living room tv was not smart). The mattress was amazing! We both slept very well. The location is fantastic-a block to the Quarter and in the CBD. Almost everywhere is a convenient and manageable walk away!
