The Curonian Spit (Kurische Nehrung in German) is a 100km long sand bar beetween the Baltic Sea and the inland salt water called "Haff". It shares the interesting history of the region, which is in Lithuania now, but was influenced by Teutonic Knights/Baltic Germans/East Prussians for centuries.
