"At check-in, the first staff member told me repeatedly that she was not able to find my reservation. I provided both a receipt and confirmation number. She eventually went to get her “boss,” and he took over. They instructed me to take a key and see if the room was acceptable, and then they would proceed with the check-in. I thought this was unusual, and I asked if I should be concerned about anything. The man said that just in case I had exceedingly high standards and didn’t like the room, I should know before getting checked in. I went to the room, but somebody was already staying in that room. I went back to the desk, and the man said that he was “unable to see the system” on his computer, and so he didn’t know where anyone was staying. I should note (and this likely should’ve been my first red flag) that there were only about four vehicles in the parking lot when I got there. He provided me another key. I’m not sure I have adequate words to describe the horror of that room. The toilet seat was up and had what looked like fresh waste splatters around the rim. The shower, toilet and sink were all uncleaned, and there was an open bar of soap with hair on it in the shower. Attempting to give the man an “out,” I asked if somebody was staying in the room. He said that somebody else must come in just to use the bathroom and wash their hands. I asked if that person also got the blood on the blanket, and he laughed it off. So, this is the level of filth they are okay with?"
